DVD Playback
Preparations
• Switch on the TV set’s power, and select “VIDEO” or “AV”
as the TV input. Refer to the operation manual for your
TV for details.
• Switch on the stereo system’s power if the DVD player
has been connected to a stereo system.
• Disc menus are recorded on some DVD discs. With discs of
this type, you can view the disc menu by pressing the
MENU button on the remote control. You can then select the
playback options (eg. subtitles, audio language, subtitle
language, etc.) by using the number buttons (0 to 9) or the
cursor control buttons
to select an option and pressing
the ENTER button on the remote control to confirm your
selection.
• You can make the settings of the Setup procedure (see
pages 17 - 25) during playback of a disc. TV MODE SET
and PARENTAL, however, can not be set during playback,
even if they are displayed.
• When you reset SPEAKER and PRO LOGIC settings during
playback, the sound is interrupted for an instant. However,
this is not a malfunction of the DVD player.
Basic Play
1 Press the OPERATE button.
2 Press the îOPEN/CLOSE button to open the disc tray.
3 Place a disc onto the tray.
Hold the disc without touching either of its surfaces,
position it with the printed title side facing up, align it
with the guides, and place it in its proper position.

CAUTION:
Do not place more than one disc on the tray. This can damage the player and the discs.
4 Press the îOPEN/CLOSE button to close the disc tray.
5 Press the ûPLAY button to play back a disc.
When you want to stop playback, press the Ë STOP button.
• If no menu or titles are recorded at the start of the disc, the disc begins playing immediately.
• Discs can also be played in Slow, Still, Frame Advance, Fast Forward and Fast Reverse modes.
• If the disc has one or more titles recorded on it, a menu screen will appear on the TV monitor after a few
moments (with TITLE MENU disc only).
