Focusing

Set the focus mode switch to
either = or \.
Refer to “Letting the Camera Choose the Optimal Settings” (p.56) for
information on how to take pictures in = mode.
Refer to “Adjusting the Focus Manually (Manual Focus)” (p.98) for
information on how to take pictures in \ mode.
Setting the Focus Mode

Autofocus
The camera automatically focuses on the subject when the
shutter release button is pressed halfway.

Manual focus The focus can be adjusted manually.
In = mode, when the subject is in a dark location, the AF assist light is used
when the shutter release button is pressed halfway. If you do not want to use
the AF assist light, set [AF Assist Light] (p.69) to P (Off) in [AF/MF Settings] of
the [A Rec. Mode 1] menu.
