Area Mail is a service to receive the earthquake
early warning, etc. provided from the Japan
Meteorological Agency.
When an area mail is sent to you, it is
automatically received and the contents of it is
displayed whether or not sleep mode is set or
whether or not screen lock is set.
Area Mail may not be received or displayed
automatically depending on the condition of the
FOMA terminal.
Ʀ In the following cases, you cannot receive Area
Mail.
While power is off
While out of service area
During international roaming
In Offline mode
Ʀ In the following cases, you may not receive
Area Mail.
During packet communication (data
communication)
During Wi-Fi tethering
During software update
During OS version upgrade
Ʀ In the following cases, you can receive Area
Mail but it may not be displayed automatically.
During a call
During packet communication (playing data by
streaming, data communication)
During software update
During OS version upgrade
Area Mail is a free service that does not require a
subscription.
For destinations of non-DOCOMO overseas
telecommunications carriers, enter “+”, the
country code, and the recipient’s mobile phone
number. If the phone number begins with “0”,
omit the “0”. Alternatively, enter “010”, the
country code and the phone number. Add “010”
to reply to SMS received from abroad.
Single-byte katakana and special symbols in
SMS text may not appear correctly for recipient.
SMS cannot be sent when “186” or “184” is
added.
