2. Touch and hold the Push To Talk icon. When you hear a tone (the icon will turn green), begin
speaking.
3. Release the Push To Talk icon when you are finished speaking. Continue the Direct Connect call
as described in Make Direct Connect Calls.
Tip: If you don’t wish to continue touching and holding the icon to speak, you can “lock” the microphone
by dragging the icon down. When you have finished speaking, drag the icon back up to unlock the
microphone and allow the other caller to speak.
Tip: Touch to dismiss an incoming Direct Connect call.
End a Direct Connect Call
There are three ways to disconnect a Direct Connect call.
■ Do nothing; the call will automatically end after several seconds if neither party presses the Push
to Talk icon.

■ Touch .
– or –
■ Touch End.
Call Alerts
Call Alerts let you notify others that you want to communicate with them using Direct Connect, without
sending an immediate Direct Connect communication. It can be less intrusive, because a Call Alert allows
the person to decide whether or not it’s convenient to respond at that time. When a user receives a Call
Alert, the phone sounds a tone and displays your name or Direct Connect number.
