For continued safety, no modification of any circuit should be attempted. Use an AC voltmeter having with 5000 ohm per volt, or higher, sensitivity or measure the AC voltage drop across the resistor.

LC-42D62U/LC-62C42U Appendix Removing the stand Before detaching (or attaching) stand, unplug the AC cord from the AC INPUT terminal. CAUTION Do not remove the stand from the TV unless using an optional wall mount bracket to mount it. Before attaching/detaching stand Before performing work make sure to turn off the TV. Before performing work spread cushioning over the base area to lay the TV on. This will prevent it from being damaged.
