Recording 3 Press the level. or button to adjust the recording Analogue recording -Recording- Basic Operation Adjust the recording level so that the maximum sound volume from the source makes the reading swing somewhere between --- 4 dB and 0 dB. Digital recording You can adjust the level in 1dB increments within the range of +12 - --- 12dB. Once you adjust the digital recording level, the setting remains even after the recording stops. (For cancellation instructions, see page 30.
Begin playback on the stereo system, the output will be recorded. To interrupt recording Press the PLAY/PAUSE button. z To resume recording, press the PLAY/PAUSE button again. z The track number will be increased by one each time the recording is interrupted. Select the starting point for your recording and press the PAUSE button. z To cancel the operation, press the /:OFF button. 6 Begin playback on the stereo system. Recording will begin automatically.

Advanced Recording (continued) „ To start recording from the middle of a track Useful Features -Advanced Recording- You can erase a portion of a track and make a new recording. The track number will be increased by one. z One track number will be added every time the REC button is pressed. z The BASS button on the remote control can also be used add track numbers. „ To prevent recorded MiniDiscs from being erased accidentally Slide the accidental erase prevention tab, located on the side of the MiniDisc, in the direction indicated by the arrow.

Track numbers are created automatically during recording via the analogue connection when a silence of 1 second or more is detected (Auto marker function). A series of tracks can be recorded as one by disabling the auto marker function, see page 20.

„ Track intervals Example: Set to "5 minutes". When recording from the microphone, track numbers will be created automatically at regular intervals (default setting: approximately every 5 minutes). During a mic synchro recording, the unit pauses when a silence lasts for 3 seconds or more, and creates a track number. Recharge the battery or replace the alkaline battery with a new one.
Battery Power „ Charging the rechargeable battery When the rechargeable battery is used for the first time or when you want to use it after a long period of disuse, be sure to charge it fully. 1 1 A rechargeable battery other than the one supplied or the optional one (AD-N70BT) cannot be charged. 2 -Battery Power- Useful Features 2 E-27 Insert the rechargeable battery. 3 Plug the AC adaptor into the wall socket, and then insert the plug on the other end into the DC IN 5V socket.

Hold Function -Hold Function- Useful Features The present operation condition can be kept even if other buttons are accidentally pressed in a place such as a crowded train. If the battery is inserted or the AC adaptor is connected, you can set this function even when the power is turned off. To cancel the hold mode Press and hold down the HOLD button for 2 seconds or more whilst the unit is in the hold mode. "HOLD OFF" will be shown.
Changing Default Settings With a MiniDisc inserted, press the MODE/ CHRG button for 2 seconds or more. "SET UP" will appear. When you release the button, "BEEP ON" or "BEEP OFF" will appear. 2 3 4 Press the or button to display the menu. Press the MODE/CHRG button to switch items. Press the /:OFF button. You can eliminate the confirmation sound that beeps when you press a button.
Titling a MiniDisc „ Creating disc and track names Load a MiniDisc to be named. A playback only or recording prevented MiniDisc cannot be edited. Whilst in the stop mode, press the EDIT button to select "DISC NAME". -Titling a MiniDisc- Advanced Features 1 E-31 3 Press the DISP button repeatedly to select the type of characters.
When the name has been completely entered, press the EDIT button. "TOC" will be displayed. To write the updated contents to the MiniDisc, press the /:OFF button. You cannot remove the MiniDisc whilst "TOC" is displayed. "TOC" will not disappear until the recorded contents have been updated. „ To erase a character Press the VOL+ or VOL--- button to move the cursor to the character you want to erase, and then press the BASS button. „ To enter a space Press the VOL+ button to move the cursor to the right.
Titling a MiniDisc (continued) „ To add characters 1 Put the unit in the character input mode. 2 -Titling a MiniDisc- Advanced Features (Perform steps 1 - 2 on page 31.) 3 4 5 6 Press the VOL+ or VOL--- button to move the cursor to the right of the character, where you want to add a new character.
Master MiniDisc operation 1 Insert a Master MiniDisc. Operation of the MiniDisc for stamping 6 Load a MiniDisc for stamping. 7 Press the ENTER/SYNC button. 3 Whilst in the stop mode, press the EDIT button to select "NAME STAMP". Press the ENTER/SYNC button. The unit will finish recording the character information and enter the stop mode. To cancel the operation, press the /:OFF button. 4 5 Press the ENTER/SYNC button. When the unit displays "CHANGE MD", remove the master MiniDisc.
Editing a Recorded MiniDisc „ To erase tracks one at a time 1 Advanced Features -Editing a Recorded MiniDisc- 2 E-35 Start playing the track to be erased, and press the PLAY/PAUSE button. „ To erase all of the tracks at once 1 Press the EDIT button repeatedly to select "ERASE". 2 3 Whilst in the stop mode, press the EDIT button repeatedly to select "ALL ERASE". Press the ENTER/SYNC button. Press the ENTER/SYNC button. To cancel the operation, press the /:OFF button.
2 3 Start playing the track to be divided into two. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button at the point where you want to divide the track. 1 2 Press the EDIT button repeatedly to select "DIVIDE". 3 Start playing the last of the two tracks to be combined, and press the PLAY/PAUSE button. Press the EDIT button repeatedly to select "COMBINE". Press the ENTER/SYNC button. Press the ENTER/SYNC button. To cancel the operation, press the /:OFF button. Editing a Recorded MiniDisc (continued) „ To move a track 1 Advanced Features -Editing a Recorded MiniDisc- 2 When a track has a name before dividing: Play the track to be moved, and press the PLAY/ PAUSE button. The two new tracks will have the same name. However, in the TOC FULL condition, the second track may not be named. Total number of tracks that can be divided: Press the EDIT button repeatedly to select "MOVE". Each disc can hold up to 255 tracks.
„ Listening through a car stereo Notes: z It is recommended that the volume level of the MiniDisc unit be set to maximum when listening through a stereo system. z When recording with stereo system, eliminate the confirmation sound (page 30). Otherwise, it will also be recorded. z The recording will be made in the analogue mode. z Character information will not be recorded. Notes: z Adjust the volume of both this portable MD and a car stereo. z Do not operate this portable MD whilst you drive a car.
References -Other Features and Caution- Other Features and Caution E-39 „ Resuming auto play „ Rechargeable battery When you stop playback and replay the MiniDisc without removing it, playback starts from the point you stopped it. z A rechargeable nickel-metal hydride battery is the only kind that can be used. Even if the battery is not used, you should charge it at least once every three months because of the special quality of this battery.
MiniDisc System Limitations The unit may have the following symptoms whilst recording or editing. The unit is not out of order. "DISC FULL" or "TOC FULL" appears even though the MiniDisc still has recording time left. More than 255 tracks (maximum) cannot be recorded regardless of the recording time. If the MiniDisc is recorded or edited repeatedly or if it has scratches (recording skips scratched parts), you may not be able to record the maximum tracks above.
Error Messages ERROR MESSAGES MEANING z The battery is run down. BATT EMPTY BLANK MD z Nothing is recorded. REMEDY z Charge the rechargeable battery or replace the alkaline battery (or use the AC adaptor for power). z Replace the disc with a recorded disc. Can't COPY z You tried to record from a copy prohibited MiniDisc. z Record using the analogue cable. References -Error Messages- Can't EDIT z A track cannot be edited. NO SIGNAL z Connect the digital cable securely. z Poor connection of the digital cable. z No output signal comes out from the connected z If the portable CD player has a function to prevent sound skips, deactivate it. unit to playback. z The input signal has improper sampling frequency. z Playback with the connected unit. Troubleshooting Many potential "problems" can be resolved by the owner without calling a service technician. If something seems to be wrong with this product, check the following before calling your authorised SHARP dealer or service centre.
„ Cleaning When this product is subjected to strong external interference (mechanical shock, excessive static electricity, abnormal supply voltage due to lightning, etc.) or if it is operated incorrectly, it may malfunction. When the unit becomes dirty Clean it with a soft cloth.When the unit is excessively dirty, use a soft cloth dampened in water (external surfaces only). If such a problem occurs, do the following: 1. Unplug the AC adaptor from the wall socket. 2. Remove the battery. 3.

Una vez haya ajustado el nivel de grabación digital, el ajuste quedará incluso después de haberse parado la grabación.
Inicie la reproducción en el sistema estéreo, y se grabará la salida. Los números de pista se crean automáticamente durante la grabación mediante la conexión analógica cuando se detecta un silencio de 1 o más segundos (función del marcador automático). Grabación desde un micrófono Pulse el botón grabación. o para ajustar el nivel de Ajuste el nivel de grabación de modo que el nivel máximo de volumen del sonido de la fuente haga que la indicación oscile entre --- 4 dB y 0 dB. 5 Pulse el botón PLAY/PAUSE. Durante una grabación sincronizada con el micrófono, el aparato se pausa cuando un silencio dura 3 o más segundos, y crea un número de pista. Durante una grabación manual con micrófono 1 Cuando la grabación está pausada o durante la grabación, pulse repetidamente el botón EDIT.
Comprobación de las visualizaciones Características útiles -Comprobación de las visualizaciones- „ Para comprobar el tiempo transcurrido y el tiempo remanente de la pista S-25 „ Para comprobar el tiempo de grabación remanente y el tiempo de reproducción total Durante la reproducción, pulse el botón DISP. Cada vez que se pulse el botón, la visualización cambiará de la forma siguiente. Mientras está en el modo de parada, pulse el botón DISP.
2 Mientras esté en el modo de parada, pulse el botón o para visualizar el número de pista y el nombre de la pista. Pulse el botón DISP para visualizar el tiempo de reproducción de esta pista. Cada vez que se pulse el botón o , se visualizará el tiempo de reproducción de la pista anterior o de la siguiente. Alimentación con pilas „ Carga de la batería Cuando la batería recargable se utilice por primera vez o cuando desee usarla después de mucho tiempo de no haberla utilizado, asegúrese de cargarla por completo. Cambio de los ajustes iniciales Con un MD insertado, pulse el botón MODE/CHRG durante 2 o más segundos. Aparecerá "SET UP". Cuando suelte el botón, aparecerá "BEEP ON" o "BEEP OFF". 2 3 4 Pulse el botón o para visualizar el menú. Podrá eliminar el sonido de confirmación que suena cuando se pulsa un botón. „ Reproducción automática Podrá hacer que el aparato no reproduzca automáticamente cuando usted inserte un MD de sólo reproducción o un MD protegido contra borrado accidental.

Cuando se haya introducido completamente el nombre, pulse el botón EDIT. "TOC" se visualizará y para escribir el contenido actualizado en el MD, pulse el botón /:OFF. „ Para borrar un carácter Pulse el botón VOL+ o VOL --- para mover el cursor al carácter que desee borrar, y después pulse el botón BASS. „ Para introducir un espacio Pulse el botón VOL+ para mover el cursor a la derecha. No podrá extraer el MD mientras se visualiza "TOC".
Título de un minidisco (continuación) „ Para añadir caracteres Ponga el aparato en el modo de introducción de caracteres. (Efectúe los pasos 1 - 2 de la página 31.) 2 -Título de un minidisco- Características avanzadas 1 3 Pulse el botón VOL+ o VOL--- para mover el cursor al carácter, donde desea añadir un nuevo carácter. Las dos nuevas pistas tendrán el mismo nombre. Sin embargo, en la condición TOC FULL, la segunda pista puede que no tenga nombre. Pulse repetidamente el botón EDIT para seleccionar "MOVE". Audición a través de otro sistema Notas: z Ajuste el volumen del grabador de MD y del estéreo de automóvil. z No opere el grabador de MD mientras conduzca un vehículo. Otras características y precauciones Referencias -Otras características y precauciones- „ Reanudación de la reproducción automática S-39 Cuando detenga la reproducción y vuelva a reproducir el MD sin extraerlo, la reproducción se iniciará desde el punto en que antes se paró. Una vez haya extraído el MD, la reproducción se iniciará desde la primera pista.
Limitaciones del sistema de minidiscos LIMITACIONES Aparece "DISC FULL" o "TOC FULL" aunque todavía quede tiempo para grabar en el MD. No pueden grabarse más de 255 pistas (máximo) independientemente del tiempo de grabación. Si el MD se graba o edita repetidamente o si tiene rayadas (la grabación salta las partes rayadas), es posible que no pueda grabar el número máximo de pistas arriba mencionado. El tiempo de grabación remanente no aumenta aunque se borren pistas.
