Viewing map layers
Initially, Google Maps opens with a street map. You can view additional map layers, such as satellite images, trac
information, your Google Latitude friends’ locations, and Wikipedia information on locations. You can also view maps that
you and other people have created in Google Maps on the web. You can add multiple layers or remove only certain layers
so you control exactly what information you want visible on the map at the same time.
1. From the Home screen, tap
Apps > Maps.
2. Tap
. A dialog opens with a list of layers as well as shortcuts to any recent searches.
3. Tap the layer you’d like to view. Or tap a checked layer to hide it.

Tap More Layers to access My Maps, Bicycling, Wikipedia, Transit Lines, Favorite Places and more.

ap Clear map to clear the map of all layers.

epending on the layer, its information appears over the base map or changes the map entirely. Some layers provide
additional interactive info on the map as well. If you see an icon on the map, just select it to see if more info is available.
Getting directions
Get detailed directions to your destination. Maps can provide directions for travel by foot, public transportation, bicycle, or
car.
1. From the Home screen, tap
Apps > Maps.
2. Press
Menu > Directions.
3. Use your current location as the starting point, or enter a location from where to start in the Start point eld.
Or tap
to select an address from your contacts, a point that you tap on a map, or a starred place.
4. Enter your destination in the End point eld. Or tap
to select an address from your contacts or a point that you tap on a
map.
5. Tap
or or or to select how you want to get to your destination > Tap Go.
