Navigation
Navigation is an internet-connected GPS navigation system with voice guidance.
You can use Navigation to get turn-by-turn driving directions, both spoken and displayed on your screen.
NOTE
You need an active mobile data or Wi-Fi connection to use Navigation.
In order to nd your location on your phone, you need to enable location services. From the Home screen, tap
Apps > Settings >
Location & security. And select one or both of the Use wireless networks, Use GPS satellites.
Opening Navigation

Apps > Navigation.

After nding Driving Directions with Map, tap

Using Navigation
You can view your progress on your route with a number of layers of information. You can zoom in and out of the map and
drag the map to view adjacent areas. You can also view your progress in Satellite or Street View and check trac conditions
along your route.
1. From the Home screen, tap
Apps > Navigation.
2. From the list of destination options,

to customize your route to avoid highways or tolls.

Tap
Map to begin tracking your journey, even if you haven’t chosen a destination.
Navigating with turn-by-turn directions
1. From the Home screen, tap Apps > Navigation.
2. From the list of destination options,

Tap
Speak Destination to search the destination with voice.
ħ

Type Destination to enter the destination.
ħ
Tap
Contacts to using contacts to set destination.
ħ
Tap
Starred Places to select the destination from starred places.
ħ
Tap a recent destination to select previous destination.
A map opens with your route drawn in blue and your next turn described at the top.
As you navigate your route, each direction is spoken in turn, and the next turn is displayed. Your current location and
direction are shown as a blue arrow on the map, which follows your location as you navigate your route.
Maps downloads and temporarily stores a copy of the directions and other information about your route on the phone, so
if you lose your connection to a data network, you can still navigate to your destination.
You can control the volume of the spoken directions with
Volume up / Volume down. To turn the spoken directions
o, press
Menu > Mute.
