MSR operations type options The RZ-X650 Magnetic Card Reader (MSR) supports several operation modes to provide a range of connection methods for software applications. • Serial device (default) • OPOS driver (default) • Keyboard interface device 2. Installing the Keyboard Interface re-director To use the Keyboard interface for MSR output you must install and activate the MSR2KBD redirector. 1. Double touch the SetupMSR2KBD shortcut on the desktop 2.

RZ-X650 MSR User Guide 3. Enabling the MSR keyboard mode If the MSR_KBD utility has been removed and is required follow these steps: 1. Touch the windows [Start] button 2. Select Programs 3. Select the MSR-KBD folder 4. Select MSR_KBD program 5. Check the box “Start this application when Windows starts”. 6. Touch the [Start Redirecting] button, Keyboard interface mode is now enabled.
RZ-X650 MSR User Guide 4. Disabling the MSR keyboard mode (for OPOS / Serial use) To temporarily disable the keyboard interface mode (example: to make configuration changes) follow these steps: 1. Touch the MSR_KBD icon and hold for approximately 2 seconds 2. Touch the checkmark on Redirecting(R) to uncheck the keyboard mode. 3. Notice the icon is now grayed out 4.

MSR Keyboard settings The MSR_KBD program contains settings for the direct interface to the MSR device. 1. Touch the MSR-KBD icon 2. Touch Setting(S) to open the MSR-KBD settings 3.

Fixed at 1 Hand Shaking Default = None g. [Default] returns all settings to original values h. [OK] to save changes i. [Cancel] to exit without saving changes 6. To change the data format or characters used for application specific purposes use the Track Setting options. 1. Module Setting: Fixed as ISO 1&2&3 2. Check the track boxes to select which tracks will be read during card swipe 3. Set the Start Code (Prefix) that leads each track 4. Set the End Code (Suffix) that follows each track 5.
RZ-X650 MSR User Guide D. Sound Setting 1. The beep sound volume can be set to Mute (none), Low, Medium or High by selecting the appropriate radio button. E. Error Setting There will reports an error status as “~~~”mark when there cannot read Magnetic Card data.
RZ-X650 MSR User Guide F. COM settings 1. Touch [Set Up] button to view or adjust the COM Port settings for the MSR 2. Port: Select the Port for connection to the MSR device 3. Baud rate: Select the baud rate for communicating with the MSR device NOTE: Default Port is COM5 and Baud rate is 19200. Changing these settings will affect the connection between the built in MSR and the POS terminal. These setting should not be changed when using the built in MSR device. 4.
RZ-X650 MSR User Guide If State is DisCon check the COM settings using [Set Up] and confirm that they are correct. If State remains at DisCon check that the wire from the MSR to the main PWB is properly connected. NOTE: z The State MUST be Connect to Read from or Write to the MSR. z If using the MSR as a keyboard interface device (MSR2KBD) the re-direction must be Disabled temporarily to connect for Read / Write activity..
