5.8.9 TCUAirFilters
TheTCUfrontpanelcontainstwofilters(943‐5600‐109)thatshouldbeinspectedperiodicallyfordustbuildup.
LowertheTCUfrontpanel,usea#2PhillipsscrewdrivertoremovethefourTCUmountingscrews,andpulltheTCU
outoftherackusingbuiltinslides.Thenusea#1Phi
llipsscrewdrivertoremovethesixscrewsthathol dthefront
paneltothefrontpanelchassis.Afterthesixscrewsareremovedtipthefrontpanelforwardandthenupwardto
disconnectthetwotabsatthebaseofthefrontpanelchassisfromtheslotsinthefrontpanel.Drythefi
lters
thoroughlybeforereinstallingthem.DisconnecttheEthernetconnectorfromthePCMcardandthepower
connectorfromthepanelPCtoallowremovalofthefrontpanel.Thefilterscannowberemoved,washedwith
water,driedandreplaced.

ThereareoneortwopowersupplycardslocatedontheleftsideoftheTCUchassis,andtypicallyfourcardsinthe
rightsideoftheTCU.Ref ertoFigure5‐20onpa
ge5‐36.Theboardslotsarenumbered1through8,righttoleft.The
1stboard(furthesttotheright)istheMCM(MainControlModule), the2ndboardisthePCM(ProcessorControl
Module),the3rdboardisthetransmitterinterface,the4thisthecustomerI/Oboard.

inaccesstotheinternalboards,simplypulloutwardandthen downonthefrontoftheTCUpanel.The
openingsontheleftandrightoftheTCUfrontpanelcanbeusedashandles.
ShouldtheGUIscr
eenstopupdatingorgogray,i.e.,ifthesoftwarebuttonsorsymbolsarestillvisiblebuthave
turnedshadesofgrayinsteadoftheusualcolorschemeorifthescreenfreezesordisplayserrormessagesforan
extendedperiod,aPCMcardresetmayberequired.Tores

Note
It will take approximately twenty seconds for the TCU to reset. If the transmitter is on the air, resetting the
TCU will NOT affect transmitter operation. Remote communications will be disrupted error messages
may display . The screen messages may repeat several times before the normal GUI display returns.

etheMCMResetbuttonisaremovable2MBmemory cardcontainingsystemsoftware.Thiscardshould
beremovedandreinstalledinanyreplacementMCMcardthatisinstalled.Thememorycardisspeciallyformatted
usingFAT16.Orderreplacementmemorycards917‐2256‐104fromHarrisasrequired.
