5.9.6 LPUCleaning
OccasionallytheLPUcircuitboardsshouldbecleaned.Allprecautionsagainststaticelectricityshouldbeobserved.
Thetechnicianshouldbegrounded,eitherthroughconductiveshoesorthroughastaticgroundingstrap.
TheLPUshouldbepow
ereddownbeforethecleaningprocessisstarted.Avacuumcleanershouldbeusedto
removedustfromtheassemblies.Anaturalbristlebrushwithametalbandandawoodenhandle(neededto
groundstaticelectricity)canbeusedtodislodgedust.Avacuumcleanerhoseca
ndevelopstaticduetotheair
rushingthroughthehose.Thehoseshouldhaveametalnozzle,whichshouldbegrounded.
Donotusec
ompressedairtoblowdirtfromtheLPUbecausethedirtwilljustsettlebackdownonsomethingelse.
Also,thefastmovingaircoulddamageordislodgedelicatecircuitboardcomponentsandcreatestaticproblems.
5.9.7 UpdatingFeatureKeyandLPUSoftware
UAXtransmitterscomewithsoftwarepre‐loadedandreadytouse.However,insomeinstances,LPUsoftwaremay
needtobeupdatedtoanewrevisionlevelorchangedifadifferentmodulationformatisneeded.Changingasignal
processorboardmayalsorequireasoftwareupdate.Theupdatedsoftwarefilesmus
tbedownloadedontothe
computerusedtorunthewebbrowserpriortocommencingtheupdateprocedure.LPUsoftwarecantypicallybe
foundontheHarrisBroadcastCustomerPortalhttp://support.broadcast.harris.com.ConsultwithHarrisfield 
servicepriortoupdatingsoftware.

DO SO BY HARRIS SERVICE PERSONNEL. INSTALLATION OF INCORRECT/
INCOMPATIBLE SOFTWARE MAY RESULT IN IMPROPER EQUIPMENT
OPERATION.
Updatingsoftwaretoanewerrevisiondoesnotrequireanewfeaturekey.Changingmodulationtypewillrequirea
newfeaturekey .Inadditiontomodulationtypes,thefeaturekeyisalsousedtoactivateoptionalsystemfeatures
likeGPSorSFN.NewfeaturekeyscanbeobtainedbycontactingyourHarrissale
srepresentative.

dertoobtainanewfeaturekey,theMACaddressforthefrontEthernetportmustbeprovided.Thiscanbe
foundbynavigatingtotheSetup>RemoteCommsmenuontheLCDcontrolpanelorXmtrHome>ExciterHome>
Setup>RemoteCommunicationsscreenusingthewe
bbrowserorTCUfrontpanel(seeFigure5‐28onpage5‐46on
right).
Note
The feature key cannot be changed via the LPU or TCU front panel. It must be updated using the web
browser.
TochangethefeaturekeynavigatetotheXmtrHome>ExciterHome>Setup>SystemSettingsscreen.Pressthe
Unlockbutton,andenterthenewfeaturekeyinthewindowtotheright.ThescreenisshowninFigure5‐28onthe
left.Pr
esstheLockbuttonafterenteringthenewfeaturekey.LPUresetisrequiredtoactivatethenewfeaturekey .
ThiscanbedonebyremovingtheACmainsplugandreconnectingitorbynavigatingtotheLPUISPscreen(Figure5‐
29onpa
ge5‐46)andpressingtheResetbutton.
Note
The TCU and or LPU must be set to Remote Enable to make changes to the feature key.
