2.9 InstallationProcedure
Stepsintheinstallationprocedurespresentedinthismanualarenumbered.Aseachstepiscompleted,thestep
numbercanbecircledtoindicatecompletion.Thisprovidesaquickverificationattheendoftheprocedurethatno
stepswereinadvertentlyskipped.
Incas
eofdiscrepancybetweentheconnectionslistedindiagramsversusinformationgiveninthisinstallation
section,thewiringinformationinthediagramsshouldbeconsideredthemostaccurate.Allconnectionslistedinthis
sectionshouldbeverifiedwiththeschematicsbeforeinitialturnon.
Duringth
einstallation,plantophysicallyplacethetransmitterrack(s)first,nextinstalltheoutputtransmissionlines,
thentheaircoolingsystemcomponents(ifductingisused),andfinallytheelectricalconduitruns.Thereasonfor
thisinstallationorderisthatrigidcoaxtransmissionlinesneedtobeinstalledwiththemi
nimumnumberofelbows
possibletoobtainthebestperformance.InstallationofRFlinesismorecomplicatedifobstacleslikeconduitand
ductworkareinplace.
2.9.1 TransmitterPlacementCustomerRack
Insomeinstances(10,100,250,500,and1000Wmodels),UAXtransmittersarepurchasedwithoutrack
integration,and thevarioustransmittersubassemblieswillbeinstalledinacustomersuppliedequipmentrack.In
suchcases,itisthecustomersresponsibilitytoproperlymountandsupporttheequipmentinsidetherack(s).
Equipmentin
stalledinracksmustbeproperlyinstalledonshelvesorusebracketsthatsafelyandadequately
supporttheweightoftheequipment.Particularlyheavyorcumbersomeitemsmayrequirerearaswellasfrontal
support.Racksshouldbeatleast91.44cmdeepandallowampleventingthroughfrontandre
ardoors.
Caution
EQUIPMENT RACKS AND TRANSMITTER COMPONENTS MUST BE
PROPERLY GROUNDED.
Refertothefactorytestdatasuppliedwiththetransmittershipmenttoaidinthereassemblyofsystemcomponents
duringtheinstallationprocess.Thefactorytestdatawillidentifycomponentsbyserialnumber.Serialnumbersare
printedoneeachcomponent.
2.9.2 TransmitterPlacementHarrisRack
Thetransmitterrackshouldbeplacedwhereitwillhaveapproximately1meterclearanceoneachsideandinthe
back.Thefrontofthetransmittershouldhaveaclearanceofatleast1.5meterstoallowaccessforremovaland
installationofmodules.Thereareseveraldrawingsincludedinthedr
awingpackagetohelpplanthecabinet
placement:
STEP 1
Removetheboltsorstrapsholdingthetransmittertothewoodenpalletand
carefullyslidethecabinetoffofthepallet.
STEP 2 Removethereardoorand/orfrontairplenum,asdesired,tofacilitate
movingandmanipulatingtherack(s).Setasideanyremoveditemsinasafe
placefortheremainderoftheinstallationprocess.
STEP 3 Placetherack(s)intopositionandcarefullyalign.Uselevelingshimsor
adjustmentlegsunderthetransmitterrack,asrequired,toensurethatthe
transmitterislevelandstable(doesnotrock).
STEP 4 Reinstallanyrackcomponentsremovedinprevioussteps.
STEP 5 Procedurecomplete.

Do not open the packaging for, or install PA modules at this time. These will be installed just before the
initial turn on.
