INTRODUCTION Since the introduction of dry toner machines, the Copier Division within Sharp Electronics (UK) Lid has enjoyed tremendous success thanks to several very successful models. In the middle of 1987 Sharp previewed to all its nationwide dealers, the SF 7750 — 16 copy per minute machine. The machine proved to be one of the most successful machines launched to date. This machine was joined in November of 1987 by its sister making (minus the reduction/enlargement facility) the SF 7700.

SPECIAL FEATURES INTRODUCTION Sharp have previously introduced eliding facilities on several of its photocopying machines. In order 1o edit documents, co-ordinates have to be inputted into the machine manually, by reading off the X’ and Y’ axis on the edge of the platen glass. (Or in the case of SF 8800 raised contacts can be depressed on the edge of the platen glass. However the SF B400 has an outstanding new feature which will allow you to edit and color edit with the stroke of a felt tipped pen.
12 1. COLOR EDITING THERE ARE TWO METHODS OF COLOR EDITING:(A) COLOR AREA EDITING 2 AREA MARKED KEY \ INSIDE MARKS ] OUTSIDE MARKS HIGH LIGHT When this key is depressed, the subject to be color edited must be enclosed by a single line using the red marker provided i.e. box. triangle, circle etc.
14 As you will appreciate from the diagrams, the originals in all instances are permanently marked with a red marker pen. In situations where this is not acceptable, the original can be copied in the normal way and the copy can then be written on.

16 2. EDITING — TRIMMING & MASKING THERE ARE TWO METHODS OF EDITING (A) AREA EDITING 2 AREA MARKED KEY ERASE OUTSIDE ] ERASE INSIDE As with coleus editing, the subject to be edited must be enclosed by a single continuous line. When this key is depressed, the following two functions are then made available, When used in conjunction with the AREA MARKED KEY, any subject outside the continuous line e.q. box, will be erased as with a conventional TRIMMING function.
As with color editing, there are instances when the marking of an original (as in the case of AREA EDITING) is totally unacceptable. Once again the EDGE MARKED KEY is utilized. LINE EDITING ERASE OUTSIDE KEY ERASE INSIDE KEY As with color editing, when this key is depressed the subject to be elided does not need to be enclosed by a single continuous line as with AREA EDITING, Single lines have 10 be placed on the axis as explained in the section COLOR LINE EDITING.

3. SF D14 OPTIONAL DUPLEX UNIT — INCORPORATING THE 500 SHEET ROTATIONAL CASSETTE The SF 8300 and SF 8400 photocopiers have been designed to house a new duplex unit — the SF D14. This gives both machines the capability to auto duplex — a feature rarely found in this sector of the market. The duplex unit also houses another superb feature — the 500 SHEET ROTATIONAL CASSETTE, this features enables both machines to select Ad or A4R from this cassette when other cassettes have been exhausted.
However the cassette can be utilized in the following way:e.g. SF 8300 OR SF 8400 BYPASS UNIT A 500 SHEET A4 OR Adrian & “Baath P AT © AUTO DUPLEX UNIT © ROTATIONAL CASSETTE A4/A4R TRAY In a hypothetical situation, where B4 paper is loaded in cassette (a), and A4 paper is loaded in cassette (b) and A4R is loaded in cassette if any of the A4 size papers in cassettes (b) and are exhausted, then the machine will automatically switch to cassette (d) the rotational cassette.
22 OPERATION GUIDELINES The following items will explain how the many functions incorporated within the two machines can be utilized correctly, for maximum benefit. The features and their operation instructions will be explained from left to right as they appear on the keyboard:SORTER MODE When this mode is utilized two other functions may be used:) Originals End (i} Group Mode loaded Result 1 1 Documents to be copied are loaded in the ADF, RAD or placed on the platen glass.
_SMALLNESS DUPLEX [ORDINALS] 7 iy SIMPLEX TO DUPLEX SEVEN U " ODD HUMERI Documents o be copied should be loaded in the ADF, RAD or placed on the platen eg. glass. Depending on the number of originals loaded, EVEN NUMBER or ODD NUMBER ORIGINAL are selected. This is due to the fact that the function being utilized involves single sided originals being copied onto double sided copies.
24 MARGIN SHIFT The original requiring a left hand margin, should be loaded in the ADF, RAD or placed on the platen glass. The print key is depressed with the resultant copy as per below. eg. Original For people who mean business. DUAL PAGE COPY (BOOK COPY MODE) The book (or documents) to be copied, should be placed on the platen grass. The print key is depressed, with the resultant copy as per below:SHIFT Resultant copy For speckle who mere business.
EXPOSURE CONTROL There are three functions available when in this mode: @ AUTOMATIC EXPOSURE MODE The machine will select via its optics system, the correct exposure level for an acceptable copy. (i) MANUAL EXPOSURE MODE The exposure control ¢an be overridden in this mode in conjunction with the light and dark keys. The light and dark keys are selected to adjust the exposure of the copy for use in instances where the original is of a poor quality.
