Chapter 1 Overview

1.6 Functional Description

The MUXpro includes the following main subsystems:

 Network interface subsystem, comprising:

 SDH framer subsystem

 Network link interfaces

 LAN port subsystem, comprising:

 LAN interfaces

 Ethernet switch

 Ethernet mapper for groups 1 to 6

 E1 subsystem, comprising:

 E1 interfaces

 Mapper

 Timing subsystem

 Management subsystem

 Power supply subsystem.

1.6.1 Network Subsystem Interface

1.6.1.1 SDH Framer Subsystem

The SDH framer subsystem for the network interface provides the frame

assembly/disassembly services and SDH overhead processing for the link to the

network: Furthermore, The operating mode of the mapper is determined by the

network interface installed on the MUXpro.

The Ethernet and E1 mappers determine the position of the various VCs within the

link frame.
