Setting the Digital Zoom
You can select from among three different zoom
ranges: 1–102 (optical zoom), 10–402 (digital
zoom) or 10–1002 (digital zoom). The digital
zoom allows you to record powerful close-up
pictures with the same operation as normal
zooming.
Notes:
• The digital zoom is in addition to the optical zoom
giving a combined maximum zoom range of 1–
1002.
As the image is enlarged digitally, the picture
may become distorted when higher digital
zoom settings are used.
The digital zoom cannot be used with the
Digital Quick Zoom or the STRETCH or SLIM
EFF. picture effects.
1 In Recording Standby mode, display the
menu screen (see page 25).
2 Toggle the CONTROL switch (Q) to select
“DGTL ZOOM”, then press the CONTROL
switch (W) to select “40@ or “100@”.
3 Press the EXIT button (MODE DISPLAY)
to turn off the menu screen.
The “D” digital zoom indicator is displayed
during digital zooming.
Selecting the 16-bit Audio
Recording Mode

the 12-bit and 16-bit audio recording modes.

12-bit audio recording mode. For higher-quality
audio, select the 16-bit audio recording mode.
1 In Recording Standby mode, display the
menu screen (see page 25).
2 Toggle the CONTROL switch (Q) to
select “AUDIO MODE”, then press the
