1.TESTBEFORESTARTINGINSTALLATIONS
Allsubstratestoreceivemoisturesensitivefloorcoveringmustbetestedfor
moisture.
CONCRETESUBSTRATES:
CalciumChlorideTestsmustbeperformedperthelatesteditionofASTM
F1869andshallnotexceed8lb.per1000sfin24hrs.
InternalRelative

freeofallforeignmaterialsuchasdust,solvents,grease,oils,oldadhesive
residue.

e. APAratedSturdiIFloorpanelsaredesignedascombination
subfloor/underlayment,butexposuretoconstructionconditionsincluding

resilientflooringinstallation.
f. SHAWresilientflooringisnotrecommendeddirectlyoverfireretardant
treatedplywoodor
preservativetreatedplywood.Thematerialsusedto
treattheplywoodmaycauseproblemswithadhesivebonding.An
additionallayerofAPArated1/4"thickunderlaymentshouldbeinstalled.
TEMPERATURE‐AMBIENT:
Controlledenvironmentsarecritical.FullyfunctionalHVACsystemsarethebest
waytoensuretemperatureandhumiditycontrol.
Do
notinstallresilientflooringproductsuntiltheworkareacanbe
temperaturecontrolled.
Minimuminstallationtemperatureis65°Fwithamaximuminstallation
temperatureof85°F.
TEMPERATURERADIANTHEAT:
Radiantheatedsubstratesmustnotexceed85°F(29°C)surfacetemperature.
Severaldayspriortoinstallingresilientproductsovernewly
constructed
radiantheatedsyst ems,makesuretheradiantsystemhasbeenonand
operatingatmaximumtemperaturetoreduceresidualmoisturewithinthe
concrete.
Threedayspriortoinstallationlowerthetemperatureto65degrees,24
hoursafterinstallationgraduallyincresethetemperatureinincrementsof
Ftoavoid
overheating.
Aftercontinuousoperationoftheradiantsystem,ensurethesurfaceof
thefloordoesnotexceed85
o
F.
Radiantheatcomponentsmustbeaminimumof½”separatedfromthe
VersaFitPlank.
Useofaninfloortemperaturesensorisrecommendedtoavoid
overheating.

Note:Itmaynotbethefloorcoveringinstaller’sresponsibilitytoconductthe
tests.Itis,however,thefloorcovering
installer’sresponsibilitytomakesure
thesetestshavebeenconductedandthattheresultsareacceptablepriorto
installingthefloorcovering.Whenmoisturetestsareconducted,itindicates
theconditionsonlyatthetimeofthetest.
2.JOBSITECONDITIONS
a. Itisrecommendedthatresilientfloorcovering
installationshallnotbegin
untilallothertradesarecompleted.
b. Areastoreceiveflooringshallbeclean,fullyenclosed,withthepermanent
HVACsetatauniformtemperaturerangeof65

c. Areastoreceiveflooringshouldbeadequatelylightedduringall phasesof
theinstallationprocess.
