USG Sheetrock® Brand Mold Tough® Panels are available in Firecode® X and Firecode® C
formulations. Both panels feature a noncombustible, moisture-resistant gypsum core that is
encased in moisture- and mold-resistant, 100% recycled green face and brown back papers.
The panels also feature tapered long edges for easy fi nishing.
USG Sheetrock® Brand Mold Tough® Panels Firecode® X (UL Type SCX): Available in 5/8" thickness
and UL Classifi ed for re resistance.
USG Sheetrock® Brand Mold Tough® Panels Firecode® C (UL Type C): Available in 1/2" and 5/8"
thicknesses and UL Classifi ed for fi re resistance, these panels feature a specially formulated
mineral core that provides fi re resistance superior to that offered by 5/8" USG Sheetrock® Brand
Mold Tough® Panels Firecode® X.
Commercial or residential applications where moisture- and mold-resistance is required
New or repair and remodel construction
USG Sheetrock® Brand Mold Tough® Panels Firecode® X and Firecode® C are UL Classifi ed for use
in fi re-rated wall and ceiling assemblies
Can be used in protected exterior sof t and ceiling applications
Can be used as an interior tile substrate in dry locations or areas with limited water exposure
1. Avoid sustained exposure to temperatures exceeding 125˚F (52˚C).
2. Avoid exposure to excessive, repetitive or continuous moisture before, during and after
installation. Eliminate sources of moisture immediately.
3. Maximum frame spacing for walls is 24" o.c. Maximum frame spacing for ceilings is 24" o.c. for
installations perpendicular to framing and 16" o.c. parallel to framing.
4. Must be stored off the ground and under cover in accordance with Gypsum Association
publication GA-801, Handling and Storage of Gypsum Panel Products.
5. Not suitable for use as a substrate for tile in wet areas such as tubs and showers, gang showers
and other areas subject to direct water exposure.
6. Use as a tile substrate is limited to tile installed according to the most current TCNA and
ANSI specifi cations. Please consult with the adhesive and tile manufacturers for their
recommendations for maximum size and weight parameters for use with gypsum board.
7. Not recommended for exterior sof ts and ceilings that project upwards and away from the
building proper.
