REMOTE CONTROL OPERATION RANGE • Use the remote control unit within a range of about 7 meters (23 feet) and angles of up to 30 degrees aiming at the remote sensor. LOADING BATTERIES 1. 2. Remove the cover. Load two batteries ("AAA" size, 1.5 V) matching the polarity. • Remove the batteries when they are not used for a long time. • Do not use the rechargeable batteries (Ni-Cd type).
Preliminary Knowledge About Discs PLAYABLE DISCS MP3 COMPATIBILITY This unit supports the following discs. Disc Logo • MP3 discs must be ISO 9660 Level 1 or Level 2, Joliet compliant. Supported formats : Mode 1, Mode 2. • Folders can be up to eight levels deep. • MP3 files must be MPEG-1/MPG-2 Audio Layer 3 format with a sampling rate of between 16 kHz and 48 kHz and a bit-rate of between 32 kbps and 320 kbps (128 kbps or 192 kbps recommended). Incompatible files cannot be played.
CARE AND HANDLING OF DISCS • In handling a disc, hold it carefully with edges. • Do not stick paper or write anything on the printed surface. • Fingermarks and dust on the recorded surface should be carefully wiped off with a soft cloth. Wipe straight from the inside to the outside of the disc. • Always keep the discs in their cases after use to protect them from dust and scratches. • Do not use a cracked, deformed, or repaired disc.
Operations • In this operating instructions, MP3 files are referred to as tracks. PLAYING CDS 1. Turn the power on. • The power is turned on and this unit enters the operating mode. • To switch the power off, push the POWER switch again. 2. Open the disc tray to load a disc with the printed side up, then close it. When loading a audio CD When loading a MP3 disc •8 cm (3 inch) discs can be loaded on the inside circle of the tray, too.
To select tracks during play To skip back To skip ahead • Each time the button is pressed, a track is skipped. • When the REVERSE SKIP ( ) button is pressed once midway through a track, play returns to the beginning of that track. When it is pressed again, a track is skipped. • You can select a track with pressing the NUMERIC buttons on the remote control. Example : For "3" For "15" Notes : • During random play or program play, you cannot select a track with pressing the NUMERIC buttons.
Repeating a specific passage 1. During play at the beginning of the desired passage, press the REPEAT A/B button. •Then "A" is displayed. 2. At the end of the desired passage, press the REPEAT A/B button again. •Then "AB" is displayed and the passage between points A and B is played repeatedly. •To cancel the repeat A/B play, press the REPEAT A/B button again. Note: •Repeat A/B play works only within a track. PLAYING TRACKS IN RANDOM ORDER 1. In the stop mode, press the RANDOM PLAY button.
PLAYING TRACKS IN DESIRED ORDER (PROGRAM PLAY) • Up to 20 tracks can be programmed to be played in any desired order. 1. In the stop mode, press the PROGRAM button. • Then "PGM" is displayed. 2. Select the desired track and store it in the memory. • You can select a track with pressing the NUMERIC buttons. Example : For "3" For "15" : : For "127" : • Then the selected track is stored automatically without pressing the PROGRAM button. When selecting and storing track 2 on Audio CD.
Continued Checking the programmed tracks •In the program mode (meaning "PGM" is displayed in the stop mode), press the FORWARD/REVERSE SEARCH( ) buttons. •Each time these buttons are pressed, the programmed tracks are displayed in the programmed order or in the opposite order. Clearing the programmed tracks •In the program mode (meaning "PGM" is displayed in the stop mode), press the PROGRAM button. •Then "PGM" disappears and the programmed tracks are all cleared.
DISPLAYING DISC INFORMATION DURING PLAY •Each time the DISPLAY button is pressed, the display mode changes depeding on the disc types as follows : •In case of Audio CD •In case of MP3 disc Elapsed time of the current track Elapsed time of the current track Remaining time of the current track Name of the current track Elapsed time of the disc Name of the current folder Remaining time of the disc Title of the current track (if ID3 tag present) Notes : •"UNKNOWN" will be displayed as title name if
Troubleshooting Guide If a fault occurs, run through the table below before taking your unit for repair. If the fault persists, attempt to solve it by switching the unit off and on again.
