SA FE TM General This document is developed to support and guide the Marine Fire Safety Industry. Based on the rules and guidelines accomplished by the International Convention for the Safety Of Life At Sea (SOLAS). The paramount objective, behind this document is to summarize the Fire Safety technologies required, to increase safety of life and assets at sea.
SA FE TM 1 Conventional Wide Spectrum Smoke Detector (Cerberus® DO1101) Electronic characteristics - The smoke detector shall have uniform response behaviour to all combustion products of smoke-forming flaming and smouldering fires, based on light scattering technology. - The detection technology shall be designed for a high degree of immunity against deceptive phenomena, such as dust, humidity, pressure, and airflow.

SA FE TM 2 Conventional Heat Detector (Cerberus® DT1101 / DT1102) Electronic characteristics - The detection system shall be a combination of rate of rise and fixed temperature principle with two independent NTC thermistor and automatic compensation for changes of ambient conditions. - The heat detector shall come in two versions for different application temperatures, up to 50°C or 70°C.

SA FE TM 3 Conventional Manual Call Point (Cerberus® DM1104) Electronic characteristics - The manual call points shall be electrically compatible with the associated range of smoke detectors and fire control panels manufactured by the same company. - The manual call point shall connect to the local Fire control panel via a fully supervised two-wire circuit class B or class A wiring. Wiring shall be unshielded twisted or untwisted pair type.

SA FE TM 4 Interactive Wide Spectrum Smoke Detector (Cerberus® DO1152) Electronic characteristics - The smoke detector shall have uniform response behaviour to all combustion products of smoke-forming flaming and smouldering fires, based on, temperature compensated, light scattering technology. - The detector shall have the computing power to determine the seriousness of an alarm condition, without the need of communication to the fire control panel, based on the evaluation of the smoke levels sensed.
SA FE TM - The products shall be marked with Marine logo and approved according to: - DNV (Det Norske Veritas) - LRS (Lloyds register of Shipping) - RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) - ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) - GL-DE (Germanischer Lloyd) - BV (Bureau Veritas) - Additionally, DIN 54840 / ISO/DIS 11469 or DIN 7728 / ISO 1043 for environment friendly disposal at the end of their life cycle.
SA FE TM 5 Interactive Heat (Cerberus® DT1152) Electronic characteristics - The heat detector shall come in one version only. The different application temperatures shall be programmed or downloaded from the fire control panel. - The detection system shall be a combination of rate of rise and fixed temperature principle with two independent NTC thermistor and automatic compensation for changes of ambient conditions.

SA FE TM 6 Interactive Neural Smoke Detector (Cerberus® DOT1152) Electronic characteristics - The combined smoke/heat detector shall be of the multi-criteria type whereof the following criteria’s shall be evaluated as a minimum: smoke density, variation of the smoke density during time, temperature rate of rise and maximum temperature.

SA FE TM 7 Interactive Linear Smoke Detector (Cerberus® DLO1191) Electronic characteristics - The beam detector shall be based on the light attenuation principle only, and be equally sensitive to all types of visible smoke. - The detector shall have the computing power to determine the seriousness of an alarm condition, without the need of communication to the fire control panel, based on the evaluation of the danger levels sensed i.e.
SA FE TM - The manufacturer shall provide adequate accessories to operate the detector on outside constructions or in other ambient with rapid changes of temperature of high humidity. - A comprehensive range of accessories shall be available to fulfil requirements for any Marine applications.
SA FE TM 8 Interactive Infrared Flame Detectors (Cerberus® DF1192) Electronic characteristics - The infrared flame detector shall be based on a triple-sensor evaluation principle. Furthermore, perform detection reliability and highest immunity to interference radiation and sunlight by using intelligent signal processing, custom designed algorithms, and wavelet analysis.

SA FE TM 9 Interactive Manual Call Point (Cerberus® DM1154) Electronic characteristics - The manual call points shall be addressable and electrically compatible with the associated range of smoke detectors and fire control panels manufactured by the same company. - The manual call point shall be able to isolate short circuits on the detection-line bus in order not to disrupt the proper function of the rest of the detectors connected on the detection-line bus.

SA FE TM 10 Interactive Output Module (Cerberus® DC1154) Electronic characteristics - The output module shall be addressable, microprocessor based, and designed to be placed somewhere with the other interactive devices on a detector loop. Thus, provide an interface as a control output module of the fire alarm panel to equipment such as fire doors, smoke vents, smoke curtains etc. - The output contact of the output module shall be rated to 240VAC/2A.

SA FE TM 11 Interactive Input Module (Cerberus® DC1157) Electronic characteristics - The input module shall be addressable, microprocessor based, and designed to be placed somewhere with the other interactive devices on a detector loop. Thus, provide an interface as a control input module to the fire alarm panel from e.g. door contact, sprinkler contacts, or for alarm activation.

SA FE TM 12 Compact Fire Control Panel (Cerberus® CI1145) Terminology - The fire control panel shall be a stand-alone compact control unit, approved by the following Marine authorities: - DNV (Det Norske Veritas) - LRS (Lloyds register of Shipping) - RINA (Registro Italiano Navale) - ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) - GL-DE (Germanischer Lloyd) - BV (Bureau Veritas) - The fire panel shall be factory assembled and suitable for small to medium Marine Fire Safety systems.
SA FE TM Detector bus communication (Interactive) - The control unit shall be able to process bi-directional data to interactive detection devices via a twisted two wire line, by using the technology of interactive data exchange and decentralized danger level evaluation. - The interactive detector bus shall be capable to interfacing with interactive devices such as automatic detectors (e.g. smoke, heat, etc.), manual call points, input and output devices.
SA FE TM Mechanical characteristics - The fire control panel shall consist entirely of standard printed circuit board assemblies to facilitate removal and easy maintenance.
SA FE TM Alarm processing concept - Processing of an alarm, and the activation of the acknowledge and reset functions shall operate in accordance to the subsequent alarm organization principle: - Manned mode: In the manned mode of the fire control panel, a response from automatic detectors (e.g. smoke, heat, etc.) shall remain as a local alarm for a preprogrammed period, referred to as T1. - During this delay time (T1) an internal alarm shall be given, to bring attention to the local staff.
SA FE TM - Real time clock: The actual real time shall be displayed on the operating terminal, and the change from summer to winter time and back to summer time shall be effected automatically. - Turning “on” and switching “off” system devices: It shall be possible to “switch on” and to “switch off” the following “devices” from the operating terminal: - Any automatic detector (e.g. smoke, heat, etc.) or group (zone) of detection devices.

SA FE TM 13 Modular Fire Control Panel (Cerberus® CS1140) Terminology - The fire control panels shall be designed in a modular assembly concept, covering applications from stand-alone fire control units to large Fire Safety System configurations, including networking with satellite units, Danger Management Systems, and Building Management Systems.
SA FE TM Detection line communication (Conventional / Collective) - The control unit shall be able to process and evaluate conventional / collective signals from compatible automatic detectors (e.g. smoke, heat, etc.), manual call points and input devices via a two-wire detection line. - The maximum line capacity shall allow the handling of 25 detection devices.

SA FE TM 14 Compatibility with Explosion-Hazard Areas (Cerberus® Ex detectors) General - Marine Fire Safety applications, which call for fire detectors to be installed in explosion-hazard areas (Ex zone 1 and 2) shall be offered by the same vendor as offering any other standard Fire Safety solutions.
