High Speed Trunk Isolator/Extender
The Trunk Isolator/Extender (TIE) electrically isolates
equipment such as the Modular Building Controller
(MBC), Remote Building Controller (RBC), Floor Level
Network (FLN) Controller, Standalone Control Unit
(SCU), Remote Control Unit Protocol 2 (RCU P2),
Remote Processing Unit (RPU), and Remote Control
Unit (RCU), located in the Building Level Network
(BLN) and Floor Level Network (FLN). It also protects
equipment from surges and transients.
Description
The TIE is mounted in a field panel or in the field
directly on an ALN or FLN. The power supply (power
pack) must be plugged into an outlet protected by a
minimum of three metal oxide varistors (MOVs).
Provisions for Class 1 conduit connections can be
provided by mounting the TIE in a field panel.
Major Applications
Signals re-timed to 1% accuracy
Isolates “high risk” field panels from shorts at
the ALN in the field panel
Isolates panels from power surges and shorts
at the ALN
Isolates ALNs and FLNs (field panels) to
extend them to another building
Extends the maximum length of trunk on the
ALN from 4000 feet to over 30,000 feet on 24
AWG Low Capacitance TSP cable
Additional Features
Full Surge Transient protection
Five LEDs provide indication of trunk activity
Operates at 1200 to 115200 bps
Built-in self-test capabilities
