Product Description

CAUTION

DO NOT CUT CABLE TIE

The cable tie must be left in place

until AFTER the actuator set screw

has been tightened and the DXR

Actuator Package has been

screwed in place on the mounting

surface.

The DXR Actuator Package consists of a dedicated

room controller and a Siemens OpenAir™ GDE

series electronic actuator. Components are factory

mounted on a common base-plate with all

connections in place.

The shipping carton includes the DXR Actuator

Package, two self-tapping screws, a hex wrench,

and a metal insert for damper shafts measuring 3/8-

inch (8-10 mm) in diameter.

NOTE:

These instructions include a section near

the end on replacing the actuator.

MOVs can be installed at the time the controller is factory-mounted; coordinate with the box manufacturer prior to order placement.

Document No. A6V10549963 Installation Instructions January 13, 2016 3. Confirm that the actuator’s adjustment lever is also in counterclockwise position; adjust if necessary (Figure 4). CAUTION! The DXR circuit board and the actuator have little clearance between them.

Hold the DXR Actuator Package steady and tighten the set screw (Figure 5) to the following inch pounds of torque: – 60 inch pounds – solid steel or plastic graphite composite (hollow steel shafts require an insert to prevent shaft damage!) – 38 inch pounds – hollow aluminum shafts Save the hex wrench. Adjust if necessary using manual override. DO NOT remove the actuator from the base-plate.

Document No. A6V10549963 Installation Instructions January 13, 2016 7. Cut and remove the cable tie, confirming release of the location pin (Figure 7) to its neutral position. Push it free if stuck. 9. Manually open the damper clockwise using the actuator’s adjustment lever. Use the hex wrench for leverage if necessary (Figure 9). Figure 9. Setting a Mechanical Range Stop. Figure 7. Confirming Release of Location Pin. 8. If a mechanical range (damper stop) adjustment is necessary, do it now (Figure 8).

Document No. A6V10549963 Installation Instructions January 13, 2016 Actuator Replacement 1. Remove the terminal block from the DXR and disconnect actuator wiring. 2. Using the hex wrench supplied, loosen the old actuator’s set screw (see Figure 5 for set screw). Remove actuator and set aside. 3. Determine the damper shaft diameter. Do one of the following: – If it measures 1/2-inch (12 to 14 mm), skip to step 5.
