Remote Installation
CAUTION:
The relay module MUST be at earth
ground potential. If not, the MOVs
(metal oxide varistors) on the relay
module cannot provide noise and
surge suppression for the TEC.
NOTES:
1.
Placement of the TEC Plug-in Relay Module
and all wiring must conform to NEC and local
codes and regulations.
2.
The Remote Mount Kit does not come with a
grounding wire. For remote installations, the
ground wire that came with the TEC Plug-in
Relay Module must be used.
3.
High-voltage applications (120 to 230 Vac)
may require external snubbers (filters) to
eliminate electromagnetic interference and/or
conform to FCC regulations.

1. Remove cover of TEC enclosure.
2. Confirm that power to the controller and all
switched devices is OFF.
Relay Module Placement
If the TEC enclosure being used is Siemens Building
Technologies Part Number 550-002, proceed with
step 3. For other enclosures, skip to step 4.
3. Secure the relay module in the enclosure as
shown in Figures 4, 5, or 6. (Consult Table 1 if
necessary for which figure to use.) See Figure 7
to understand how the mounting rail snaps into
place. Proceed to step 6.

4. Determine a location for the relay module and
fasten the mounting rail with the self-tapping
screws. (If not using the self-tapping screws,
drill 1/8-inch (3 mm) pilot holes and then fasten
the mounting rail with No. 6 or No. 8 screws.)
CAUTION:
Protect the controller and relay module
from metal shavings caused by drilling
holes for the mounting rail. Metal
shavings from drilling new holes in the
enclosure can cause severe damage to
the units.
5. Center the relay module over the mounting rail
and snap it into place.
6. Using the grounding wire that came with the
relay module, ground the lug at J3 to the
grounding stud in the TEC enclosure (see
Figures 4, 5, or 6). (The TEC enclosure must
be at earth ground potential.)
