Model CPY-HLI
VESDA Interface Card
OPERATION
The Model CPY-HLI from Siemens Industry, Inc.
interfaces MXL-IQ to VESDA detectors. MXL-IQ
requires a NIM-1W module configured in CSG-M as an
Air Sampling (VESDA) interface.
• The interface gives the MXL-IQ the ability to list,
control, and annunciate the state of up to 31
VESDA detectors connected to a single NIM-1W.
• MXL-IQ supports one NIM-1W configured as an
Air Sampling (VESDA) interface.
• Each VESDA network will support one CPY-HLI.
NOTE: The CPY-HLI interface is compatible with the
following:
• NIM-1W firmware version 2.0 and higher,
• SMB ROM version 6.10 and higher, and
• CSG-M version 11.01 and higher.
INSTALLATION
Always remove power before installation.
The procedures in these instructions must
be followed in order for the units to func-
tion properly. Be sure to read the complete
procedure before you begin the installation.
Mounting
(Figure 1)
1. Remove the two screws and the cover of the
CPY-HLI unit and place them to one side. Inside
the unit are two PCB assemblies mounted to the
enclosure back plate. The larger of the two is the
CPY-HLI assembly and the smaller is the
VESDAnet socket assembly.
2. Mount the CPY-HLI backbox close to the MXL-IQ
enclosure, keeping in mind the following.
• The unit must be mounted with the larger
PCB assembly (CPY-HLI) above the smaller
PCB assembly.
• The CPY-HLI enclosure must be mounted
within 6 feet of the MXL-IQ enclosure for
wiring purposes.
• Cable Model CPY-HLICABLE, P/N 500-
699911, must be mounted inside rigid
conduit and can not leave the room where
the MXL-IQ and CPY-HLI enclosures are
mounted.
a. Select a clean, dry, shock and vibration free
surface.
b. Mark the locations of the two upper mounting
bolts of the backbox on the wall.
c. Drill the two holes located in the previous step
and screw in the top bolts, leaving a small gap
between the wall and each top bolt.
d. Place the backbox over the two top bolts and
allow it to slide down over the bolts.
e. Mark, drill, and install the two bottom bolts in
the backbox.
f. Tighten all four bolts securely against the back
wall of the backbox.
g. Connect rigid conduit from CPY-HLI to MXL-IQ.
