3.2 Configuring CDI-Net
The CDI-Net network provides point-to-point connectivity solutions for Siemens
fire, safety, security, and 3
rd
party control units.
CDI-Net is a family of products including:
• GW20 gateway, that supports up to 20 RS232 lines to subsystems (down-
stream), and up to 4 RS232 lines to the DMS (upstream).
• GW21 gateway, that supports up to 4 RS232 lines to subsystems (down-
stream), and up to 2 RS232 lines to the DMS (upstream).
• GW20+GW21 (2-level network), that supports up to 80 RS232 lines to subsys-
tems (downstream from 20x GW21), up to 4 RS232 lines to the central DMS
(upstream from GW20), and up to 20 RS232 lines to the local DMS (upstream
from 20x GW21).
• GW21 line splitter - special solution not discussed in this document.

The number of serial connections available at management station level depends
on the specific product; please see the relative ICC (Installation, Configuration, and
Commissioning) manuals. Reference documents are listed in the Resource Infor-
mation document described at p.4.
