8 Testing the configuration
We recommend that you test connections during the configuration process so you
can more easily narrow down the cause of any problems. This is because you may
have problems in run-time where no error message is generated.
8.1 Checking the DMS – NK82xx connection(s)
Verify that the NK82xx(s) communicate with the DMS
This needs to be done from the host station. Check each NK82xx to ensure that it
communicates with the DMS. The way in which you check depends on the type of
DMS.
MM8000 shows the link status of a network unit as Reachable or Not
reachable. In case of communication failure, a Fault event is generated, and
all the data point conditions that cannot be aligned with field status (belong-
ing to the NK8000 units, and to the subsystems connected through those
units) are greyed to indicate that are no longer reliable.
MK8000 reports the link status of each unit on one of the OPC objects. The
OPC client then presents that condition to the users.
To correct communication failure(s), see section 9, with resolutions
to some co
mmon problems detailed in section 9.3.
