Using a dishwasher
Washing by hand
Saving water to save energy
It’s a popular misconception that washing up by hand saves water, but the figures speak
for themselves. Most of our dishwashers use as little as 7 litres of water per wash! On
average, that’s an incredible 53 litres of water less, per load, than washing up by hand.
And the energy required to heat all that washing-up water? More than thrice as much as
a Siemens Zeolite® dishwasher uses on an economy 50°C wash programme.
* The energy required to heat 60 litres of water (washing up by hand) from 15°C to 55°C is around 2.4kWh while
the energy used by an SN56V594EU dishwasher is 0.67kWh for an economy 50°C wash programme.
