Ducting
For optimum performance, your Siemens rangehood should be ducted to the outside of the house by using
the correct ducting size. The larger the ducting size, the more volume of air can be extracted and the quieter the
rangehood will be. All Siemens rangehoods are suitable for use with a 120 mm diameter ducting as standard. Use
of ducting with a lesser diameter should be avoided wherever possible. Some models offer the option of increasing
this to an even larger 150 mm size, which helps increase efficiency and lowers noise levels even further. Ducting
lengths should be as short and as direct as possible to ensure air is extracted as quickly as possible. Bends should
be kept to a minimum and the ducting itself should be as even as possible to ensure smooth, unobstructed air flow.
Powerful extraction
To ensure your Siemens rangehood is powerful
enough to effectively remove moisture and cooking
odours, as a guide, the hood must be able to change
the air in the kitchen between 6-12 times per hour.
To choose the correct rangehood, first, calculate
the volume of the kitchen (HxWxD metres). Then
divide the maximum extraction rate of your chosen
rangehood by the volume of the room. In order
to ensure extraction performance, this figure
should be as close to 10 as possible;
Example: 4 m x 3 m x 2.4 m = 28.8 m
3
10 changes per hour = 10 x 28.8 m
3
= 288 m
3
/h
i.e. Rangehood must achieve a minimum of 288 m
3
/h
Minimal noise
To avoid excessive noise, we suggest selecting
a model which meets the extraction requirements
on an intermediate speed (e.g. level 2) rather than
at the highest speed.
