SIMATIC ET 200M
The multi-channel S7-300 I/O
The ET 200M distributed I/O station has a modular design
with IP20 degree of protection. Up to 12 multi-channel sig-
nal modules (e.g. 64 digital inputs) and function modules
as well as communication processors of the S7-300 can be
used as I/O modules.
There are no slot rules. Hot swapping is permissible when
using active bus modules.
Connection to PROFIBUS and PROFINET is achieved using inter-
face modules – with PROFIBUS optionally also using fiber optic
cables.
In addition to screw-type and spring-loaded terminals, con-
nection of the signals can be made even simpler and faster
using SIMATIC TOP connect. Preassembled front connectors
with single conductors and a complete plug-in modular sys-
tem are available. In the case of the FastConnect connectors,
there is no need to remove any cable insulation. The cable is
simply inserted and the contact is achieved through the IDC
(Insulation displacement connection/contact) method.
When the ET 200M is operated with an S7-400H/FH, the avail-
ability of the plant can be increased:
■ Switched connection:
One ET 200M with two interface modules
■ Redundant connection:
Two ET 200M with one interface module each
When the ET 200M is connected to an S7-400 via PROFIBUS,
the PLC can be configured during normal operation (configu-
ration in RUN - CiR).
In this manner,
■ complete ET 200M I/O stations can be added,
■ individual modules can be added within a station, and
■ individual digital and analog module parameters can be
modified.
Hot swapping of signal modules is possible, thus reducing
downtimes.
Failsafe I/O modules are used for inputs and outputs in safety-
related plants with SIMATIC Safety Integrated.
SIPLUS components can be used even in an expanded tempe-
rature range of -25°C…+60°C and in a corrosive atmosphere or
when there is condensation (www.siemens.com/siplus).
ET 200M with PROFIBUS connection and S7-300 modules
FastConnect
The FastConnect system, in which wires no longer need to be
stripped, offers even more advantages for assembling electro-
nics and power modules:
■ Obtainable as 20- and 40-pole versions
■ Suitable for all S7-300 I/O modules
■ Permissible conductor cross-section: 0.5…1.5mm²
■ Suitable for rigid and flexible conductors
■ Opening for test probes with a diameter of up to 1.5mm
■ Time savings of up to 60% for installation compared with
conventional connection methods
■ No wire stripping and no crimping required
■ Simple and safe assembly using a screwdriver
■ Reduction of errors during installation
■ No need to determine the stripped length of the wire
