INTRODUCTION

The Model 8700-M Manual Station is an addressable device containing advanced control

panel communication technology. This technology, which provides two-direction commu-

nication with the control panel, produces an Intelligent Initiating Device. The 8700-M is a

single action station; when used with the Model F451173 Adapter, the 8700-M is double

action.

PROGRAMMING INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT NOTE: The 8700-M must be in the Reset position in order for the

unit to be programmed. If the pull-down lever has been even partially pulled

down, the unit must be reset before it can be programmed.

1. Refer to Figure 1 to locate the opening on the 8700-M cover that allows access to the programming

holes which are on the 8700-M printed circuit board.

2. The manual station is programmed by using the 8720 Programmer/Tester. Because 8700-M devices

are polarity insensitve, the programming plugcan be inserted into the programming holes in either

direction.

To prevent potential damage to the 8720 DO NOT connect an 8700-M to the 8720 until at least one wire

is removed from terminals 1 or 2 of the 8700-M.

3. Follow the instructions in the 8720 Manual (P/N 315-033260FA) to program the 8700-M to the desired

address. Record the device address on the nameplate label located on the inside of the 8700-M

manual station mounting plate. The 8700-M can now be installed and wired to the system.

OPERATION

The 8700-M manual station operates with the Fire Alarm Control Panel via the addressble device circuit.

When an alarm condition occurs, pull down on the PULL DOWN lever of the manual station. The pull-

down cover remains down and locked until the station is reset.

The 8700-M with the F451173 Adapter has an additional lever labeled LIFT - PULL HANDLE which must

be lifted up before access is provided to the station PULL DOWN lever.

To Reset Station

Turn lock barrel ¼ turn counter-clockwise with the allen key provided. This will allow the front to hinge

down, releasing PULL-DOWN plate to disengage from the switch.

Return the front to its closed position, then turn the lock barrel back clockwise.
