NCCNT-UK Upgrade Kit
Software for Upgrading an Existing NCCNT System
Upgrade Procedure for Software from CD
Follow the procedure listed below to upgrade an
existing release of NCCNT to a newer version only.
Do not follow this procedure for an initial NCCNT
installation.
NOTE: You must begin this procedure logged in at
the “D” level.
1. Shut down the NCCNT by pressing the ALT key
and F4 key simultaneously.
• Answer “OK” twice to the “Do you want to
close?” prompt.
• When the NCCNT restarts, press the “Exit”
key when the startup window appears. (This
will prevent the NCCNT software from
restarting.)
2. Click on the “Start” button, and choose “Shut
Down.”
• When prompted, choose “Close all programs
and log on as a different user.”
• Select “OK”, then hold down the shift key until
the logon screen appears.
• Log on at the administrator level by using
logon name “Administrator” and password
“siemens” (lower case letters).
3. Insert the NCCNT-G/GL CD.
• The installation should start automatically. If it
does not, run the file “setup.bat” from the root
directory of the CD through the “Run”
command from the “Start” button.
4. Once the installation program is running, choose
“Install Java Runtime” by pressing the letter “J”.
5. When this installation is complete, choose
“Update an Existing NCCNT Installation” by
pressing the letter “U”.
6. When the installation is complete, you will be
prompted to restart the computer. Do not restart
the computer yet!
• Click on the “Start” button, then choose
“Settings” and “Printers”.
• Make sure that an icon for a generic text
printer has been loaded on the system.
• If it is not, click on the “Add printer” icon, and
create a local printer on LPT1.
• Choose “Generic” under “Manufacturer” and
“Generic/Text” under “Model”.
• Make sure it is not a shared printer, and do
not print a test page. Once the generic printer
is available on the system, proceed to the next
step.
7. Restart the computer by clicking on the “Start”
button, then choose “Shut Down” and “Restart”.
Once restarted, the updated version of NCCNT
will be running.
