EEC Tool scope
Energy consumption is determined using
a simulation calculation. It is based on a
thermal building model, definitions of
HVAC plants and zones and models of the
utilized control functions (BA functions).
This calculation quickly provides thermal
and electrical energy consumptions for a
defined period of observation.
The results of the calculation show possi-
ble savings in energy consumption, energy
costs and CO
2 emissions associated with
planned functional improvements of
building automation. The Tool also pro-
vides an overview of how energy con-
sumption is distributed across various parts
of the building and HVAC plants and where
the greatest potential savings lie.
Required information
The information required on the building,
HVAC plants, etc., is usually determined
through an on-site inspection and from
the building and plant documentation.
Results
The EEC Tool displays the results of the
simulation calculation in an easy-to-un-
derstand format. Thermal and electrical
energy consumptions and the potential
savings resulting from various versions
of optimized building automation are pre-
sented side by side for easy comparison.
There is a separate listing for ventilation
and air conditioning systems, as these of-
ten contain the largest potential savings.
The payback time for an optimization as
well as the capitalized value and cash
equivalent of the investment are part of
the financial calculation and presented
in the final results.
The EEC Tool workflow follows the definition of the key elements for the simulation calculation.
