KNX and DALI – a strong team

DALI enables you to efficiently and con-

veniently control modern lighting systems.

When combined with the advantages of

the open communication standard KNX,

efficiency can be increased even further.

Hence, the KNX/DALI gateways by Siemens

directly offer both standards: the DALI-2

standard (IEC 62386-101 and 103) for

digital lighting and the KNX standard (ISO/

IEC 14543-3 or DIN EN 50090) for building

technology. DALI lighting can be integrated

easily and quickly into KNX installations.

As a DALI master controller, the three current

KNX/DALI gateways offer extensive functions

for efficient lighting control. All variants

support the control of ECG edition 1 as

well as ECG edition 2 (DALI-2). Two of the

three KNX/DALI gateways support selected

DALI sensors that are compatible with the

specification by Siemens.

By using a DALI push-button interface and

optional DALI movement sensors, standalone

DALI lighting systems can be implemented.

Individual light adjustment

through tunable white

The KNX/DALI gateways support tunable

white, a variable and seamless color tem-

perature control from warm to cold white

light. Dynamic color temperatures not only

promote a good room atmosphere but con-

tribute to human well-being. This follows

the concept of Human Centric Lighting, a way

of light planning that responds to human

needs. While cold white light promotes con-

centration, warm white lights has a calming

effect. In this way, the light in a room can

be positively adjusted to individual require-

ments and situations.

An adjusted color temperature can ensure

perfect seeing and working conditions,

which are crucial especially in educational

institutions and offices.

The KNX/DALI Gateways are

DALI-2 certified devices. They have

successfully completed the DALI-2

certification process operated

by DiiA, ensuring even more the

interoperability to other certified

devices.
