InfoCenter Server
InfoCenter Server is the interface between client
applications and the SQL Server database. InfoCenter
Server manages all application specific Windows NT
services as well as communications between the
client applications and the SQL Server database via
ODBC (Open Database Connectivity).
Standard Windows NT Server security protocols
combined with InfoCenter Server features ensure the
integrity of the InfoCenter database. Integrated
security means that data written to the InfoCenter
database assists in meeting the audit standards of
JCAHO, NFPA, FDA and other state and federal
regulatory agencies.
Point data records generated by a building automation
system such as APOGEE are imported into InfoCenter
Server via file transfer over an Ethernet network. Point
data records can be retained indefinitely in InfoCenter
Server or for a specified time interval after which they
can be archived to disk-based media for long-term
storage
.
Access to archived data is possible by restoring them
to the InfoCenter Server. When requests are made by
client applications for data stored in offline archive
volumes, a librarian feature within the InfoCenter
Server provides a message with the volume name
where the requested data is stored. As a result,
manual logs detailing what data are stored in each
archive volume are not required.
