InfoCenter Server provides storage for three types of
data points:
Import. This point’s values are generated by a
building control or monitoring system such as
APOGEE, and then imported into InfoCenter
Server.
Summary. This point’s values are calculated at
regular intervals based on the values of another
point residing in InfoCenter Server or the
calculated result of a formula. An example of a
Summary point would be the daily maximum
temperature of one day’s worth of 15-minute
samples. Summary points are defined through
the InfoCenter Administrator.
Manual. This point’s values are entered by a user
through a client application that communicates
with InfoCenter Server.

InfoCenter Administrator
InfoCenter Administrator is a client application that
provides an interface to InfoCenter Server, allowing
users to manage and control access to the data and
functions within InfoCenter Server. Automatic
scheduling of database maintenance tasks such as
importing data files, archiving data to off-line storage,
and purging data that are no longer needed reduces
the time required for operators to perform these tasks
(See Figure 3). A system feature also warns when
archive volumes are approaching their storage limits to
assure data loss does not occur.
Administrator's security features allow you to restrict
users to only the information they need by assigning
access rights to point data groups. These point
groups can be placed in a directory "tree view." The
"tree view" feature allows easy setup of access rights
and provides report users a customized list of available
points for report creation.
Administrator allows summary points to be created at
regular intervals based on the values of imported point
data from the APOGEE Automation System. Users
can quickly retrieve the relevant daily
minimum/maximum conditions that occurred in a
space without having to analyze pages of 5-minute
sample trend data. Summary point types supported
by InfoCenter Suite include Average, Minimum,
Maximum, and Delta. Calculation intervals range from
15 minutes to quarterly (three months).
Summary points can also be created based on formula
calculations. The formulas support: +, -, *, /, ABS
(absolute value), COS (cosine), COT (cotangent), EXP
(exponential value), LOG (natural log), LOG10 (log base
10), PI, POWER (raise a value to a power), ROUND,
SIN (sine), SQRT, and TAN (tangent).
InfoCenter Report Manager
Figure 4. Create report templates with Report Manager.
InfoCenter Report Manager serves as the interface for
queries to InfoCenter Server and generates reports
based on templates that users create. Report
Manager’s user-friendly toolbars and menus simplify
query-based reporting and allow for fast and easy
creation of report templates without the need for
extensive macro language coding. The templates
define the formatting of the report and the points used
to collect data for a report (See Figure 4). Formatting
options include chart information, table information
and other details such as legends, pictures, and text.
Available chart types include bar charts, column
charts, scatter charts and pie charts. Chart properties
