InfoCenter Suite Base supports Windows 2003/
2008 and Windows 7, Vista, and XP operating
systems. Multiple client/server configurations are
supported on the Ethernet/MLN and InfoCenter
Server Base is designed to reside on the same
server as the Insight workstation or your personal
client workstation.
InfoCenter Suite Base includes two client
applications licenses, allowing you to work with
multiple InfoCenter Suite clients simultaneously.
Client applications, including InfoCenter
Administrator, InfoCenter Report Manager,
InfoCenter Suite Spreadsheet, Utility Cost Manager,
InfoCenter Suite Interactive or custom applications
can be installed on more workstations than
available licenses. At any one time, only the
licensed amount of client software programs can be
connected to InfoCenter Server. Additional client
licenses are not available with InfoCenter Server
Base.
InfoCenter Server Base
Standard Windows Server security protocols
combined with InfoCenter Suite features ensure the
integrity of the InfoCenter database. Integrated
security means that data written to the InfoCenter
database cannot be manipulated without an audit
trail and user access can be controlled on a point-
by-point basis.
Data records generated by the APOGEE
Automation System can be imported into InfoCenter
Suite over an Ethernet network using the
Insight/InfoCenter Data Server function. This
provides a direct access to the Insight workstation
from within the InfoCenter Suite application to
configure and collect data. Point data and alarm
records can be retained in InfoCenter Server Base
for a specified time interval.
InfoCenter Suite provides storage for these types of
Data Records:
Interval Data — This point's values are
generated by controlling and monitoring the
APOGEE Automation System on a predefined
interval.
Change-of-Value — This point’s values are
generated by controlling and monitoring the
APOGEE Automation System when the value
changes by a specified amount.
Summary — This point's values are calculated
at regular intervals based on the values of
another point residing in InfoCenter Server or
the calculated result of a formula. An example
of a Summary point would be the daily
maximum temperature of one day's worth of 15-
minute samples. Summary points are defined
through the InfoCenter Administrator.
Manual — This point's values are entered by a
user through a client application that
communicates with InfoCenter Server. Manual
points are typically readings taken manually.
Alarm Activity — A point’s alarm activity from
the APOGEE Automation System can be stored
along with the value of the point.
The key differences between the Base and
Advanced software are:
Client Connections — InfoCenter Server Base
user access is limited to two (2) concurrent
connections by client applications. This cannot
be expanded without upgrading to InfoCenter
Suite Advanced.
Archiving — InfoCenter Server Base data
records cannot be moved to offline media for
long-term storage. The amount of data stored
by InfoCenter Server Base is limited to a 500
megabyte online database. Data storage
capacity can be managed by reducing data with
InfoCenter Summary Points or InfoCenter
Purge Schedules (see Figure 1).
Exporting — InfoCenter Server Base does not
support the InfoCenter Suite export function.
This function allows you to export data to text
files.
Data Types — InfoCenter Server Base does
not support the storage of Insight System
activity or Insight Alarm Issue Management
activity.
Client Applications — InfoCenter Server Base
supports all InfoCenter Suite client applications.

InfoCenter Administrator
InfoCenter Administrator is a client application that
provides an interface to InfoCenter Server, allowing
you to manage and control access to the data and
functions within InfoCenter Server. Automatic
