The American Auto-Matrix PUP Driver enables
communication between the APOGEE
®
Automation
System and the American Auto-Matrix devices.
This is done by removing the American Auto-Matrix
SAGE panel and replacing it with the American
Auto-Matrix PUP Driver, allowing the driver to control
the American Auto-Matrix PUP devices.

Expected Installation Times

Required Tools and Materials
•Flat-
blade screwdriver (1/8-inch blade width).
• Wire stripper
s.
• Cabling and connectors. See the Connecting
the American Auto-Matrix PUP Driver to the
American Auto-Matrix Device section.
CAUTION:
Always wear an electro-static discharge
wrist strap and discharge accumulated
static before touching f eld panel
components.
Prerequisi
tes
• Driver hardware is installed according to its
respective installation instructions.
• FLN Termination blocks installed, if any.
Depending on the type of installation, other
prerequisites may have to be completed.
Communication with the American
Auto-Matrix PUP devices can be unstable
if there are multiple American Auto-Matrix
PUP devices powered from the same
power supply and if the wires are not
connected to the power terminals using the
same polarity. Even though the American
Auto-Matrix PUP devices use AC power,
the same power wire must be connected to
the AC Common terminal on all American
Auto-Matrix PUP devices. If the AC
power wires are crossed, the American
Auto-Matrix PUP device will run, but may
be unable to communicate with the driver.
