Notes on System Architecture
The Johnson Controls Point Teams are used in
conjunction with the Modular Equipment Controller (MEC)
with LONWORKS
®
Network Support. The configuration
consists of the Johnson Controls devices and the
APOGEE
®
Automation System, linked by the MEC. A
maximum of 126 LONWORKS devices are supported
with one MEC.
Functionality
The MEC is a microprocessor-based, multitasking
platform that communicates with the Insight
®
software
package, other APOGEE field panels and controllers,
and the LONWORKS devices.
The Johnson Controls Point Teams map the Johnson
Controls LONWORKS network variables into APOGEE
points.
Through the Insight software, the Johnson Controls
points can be monitored and commanded. The Johnson
Controls points integrated into the APOGEE Automation
System can be accessed by system applications such
as Powers Process Control Language, Equipment
Scheduling, Trending, and Enhanced Alarming.
Keys to Success
Be sure to confirm that the program IDs given to you by
your Johnson Controls representative match those in the
documentation.
Some of the point teams are custom made.
