Notes on System Architecture
The Staefa SMART Driver provides communication
between the TALON
®
Automation System and Staefa
SMART II controllers.
A maximum of 720 Staefa SMART II controllers can be
accessed with one driver.
Functionality
The Staefa SMART Driver can be loaded into TC Modular
hardware. The driver is a microprocessor-based,
multitasking platform designed for multi-system
communication and control. The Staefa SMART Driver
communicates with TALON View
®
software, other
TALON field panels and controllers, and Staefa SMART
II controllers.
Through the TALON View workstation, the Staefa SMART
points can be monitored and commanded. The Staefa
SMART points integrated into the TALON Automation
System can be accessed by system applications such as
Powers Process Control Language, scheduling, trending,
and alarming.
The Staefa SMART Driver will not affect, in any way, the
operating sequence or safeties as factory programmed
into the Staefa SMART II controllers.

is supported by the Staefa SMART Driver.
