Notes on System Architecture
The Trane Driver provides communication between
the TALON
®
Automation System and the Trane
system through Trane's BCU panels with an RS-232
connection.
Since the connection to the Trane system is through
their RS-232 port, Trane limits the number of points
through the connection to 350.
Functionality
The Trane Driver can be loaded into TC Modular
hardware. The driver is a microprocessor-based,
multitasking platform designed for multi-system
communication and control. It communicates with
TALON View
® software, other TALON field panels
and controllers, and the Trane System.
Through the TALON View workstation, the Trane
points can be monitored and commanded. The Trane
points integrated into the TALON Automation System
can be accessed by system applications such as
Powers Process Control Language, scheduling,
trending, and alarming.
The Trane Driver will not affect, in any way, the
operating sequence or safeties as factory
programmed into the Trane system.
Keys to Success
The number of points that are available from Trane by
default are minimal. Be sure to specify additional
points that are required at the start of the project to
avoid additional costs from Trane.
Benefits
Systems integration brings the powerful facility control
capabilities of the TALON Automation System
together with the Trane system. Integrating the Trane
points allows both systems to operate as a single
system providing marked advantages in the following:
Reduced operating and training costs.
Increased employee productivity.
Increased diagnostic capabilities to extend
equipment life.
Improved systems information and control.
Maximized energy savings.
Products Supported
Trane models supported by the Trane Driver include:
Chillers
System Controllers
AHUs
Rooftop and Self-contained Units
Unit Controllers
If there are any questions regarding the Trane system,
contact your local Trane representative.
