Product Overview
The intelligent manual fire-alarm boxes (Model HMS-M) provide the most advanced
method of address programming, supervision and sophisticated fire-alarm-control-
panel (FACP) communication currently offered in the Fire and Life Safety market.
Each HMS-series manual fire-alarm box incorporates a custom microcomputer chip in
order to be compatible with SureWire™ technology from the FACP. This
microcomputer-chip technology, along with its sophisticated bi-directional
communication capabilities with the FACP, helps in achieving the state of an
‘Intelligent Initiating Device’ for Model HMS-M.
Specifications
Model HMS-M has all-metal material construction, which is matte finished in red
with raised white lettering. The housing accommodates a ‘pull-down’ lever, which
when operated locks into position, indicating the manual fire alarm box has been
activated.
The pull-down lever remains down and locked until the manual fire alarm box is
reset. The manual fire alarm box can only reset via the unlocking / opening of the
hinged housing cover with an Allen key (and then closing / locking the fire-alarm box
with the Allen key.) Model HMS-M is shipped with one (1) reset key and one (1)
breakglass rod (use of rod is optional).
Model HMS-M operates with various Siemens Fire
Safety FACPs. The microcomputer chip contained in
Model HMS-M has the capacity of storing in
memory identification information; as well as
important operating-status data.
All Model HMS-series intelligent manual fire alarm
boxes are programmed via the Programmer /Test Unit
(Model DPU). Model DPU eliminates the need for
mechanical-addressing mechanisms, such as:
program jumpers, DIP switches or rotary dials, since
Model DPU sets the interface address of Model HMS-
M into its microcomputer-chip, non-volatile memory
electronically.
