Maintenance
The orifice plate itself is maintenance-free.
After an extinguishant discharge:
· Check that the orifice connection to the pipework is secure and the discharge hose connection to the
orifice is tight.
· Disassembly of the unit group and control of filter, reserve filter (CX 851002 / S54476-B25-A3)
Service inspection requirements:
· Check the pipework for any unauthorized modifications which may result in a change of orifice diameter.
· Check the orifice for any damage or corrosion.
· Check that the orifice connection to the pipework is secure and the discharge hose connection to the
orifice is tight.
Warning!
Any defective parts must be replaced immediately.
The fire protection system must be isolated until such time as the defective component(s) are replaced -
failure to do so may result in significant property damage and injury to personnel.
Extinguishant leakage during extingushing system discharge
Extinguishant rarely leaks from the orifice assembly. Should this occur, the connection is not fully tightened or the
o-rings are defect or were installed jammed.
Warning!
Should it be necessary to dismantle an orifice assembly from the pipework, the cylinder must be isolated
to prevent the accidental actuator of extinguishant before commencing any such work.
Before removing any pipe connections, ensure any closed sections of the system are vented.
On completion of any maintenance or repair work, always retighten any loosened pipe connections.
Rectification – leak from HP manifold side
1. Ensure that any closed section pipework is vented.
2. Disconnect the parts before the orifice.
3. Check the seating surfaces of the orifice for corrosion and check that the O-ring is fitted and is
undamaged. Any defective part must be replaced.
4. Refit the parts to the orifice.
Rectification – leak from pipework connection
1. Ensure that any closed section pipework is vented.
2. Check the seating surfaces of the orifice for corrosion and check that the O-ring is fitted to the welding
flange and is undamaged. Any defective part must be replaced.
3. Reassemble the orifice in accordance with the installation instructions.
