Siemens Web server OZW772.. V9.0 CE1C5701en
Building Technologies Communications 2018-10-15
8.1.3 Access via direct connection
An appropriate connection is required (e.g. DSL router) for a direct connection via
Internet. Setting up Internet access is not described here. The web server is not
suitable for connecting directly to the Internet, since it does not have a firewall. This
is normally a component of the DSL router.
We recommend using the Synco IC portal for security reasons (data protection).
The secured tunnel connection used with the Synco IC portal is more secure than a
direct connection.
Set up a VPN connection as a secure alternative.
As an alternative to the direct connection, you can also access the web server via
the Synco IC portal and Remote Tool Access (via ACS790 or ETS). No settings for
IP address, port forwarding, etc., are required when accessing web server in this
manner.
HTTPS encryption via port 443 is also supported. The required certificate is not
accredited. The self-signed certificate from Siemens is valid for a set period of 20
years and is installed on the web server. The certificate must be installed on the
web browser for encrypted communications.
One own certificate must be installed for each web server.
The web browser security warning is displayed the first time you connect via
the https address. The page continues to load contrary to the web browser
recommendation.
The certificate must now be installed: A context-sensitive installation routine
is available depending on web browser used.
The warning "Certificate error" remains for individual web browsers even after
the certificate is successfully installed.
