Cerberus PACE Compact Public Address and Controlled Evacuation System EN 54-16-certified multi-channel voice alarm control and indicating equipment for demanding digital and network-based public address and evacuation applications.
System overview Fig. 1: Cerberus PACE Compact system overview Cerberus PACE Compact is a network-based public address and voice alarm (PA/VA) system that complies with the requirements of EN 54-16 and allows for a decentralized and redundant system structure. It is an important feature of the system that the critical risks of single point of failure vulnerabilities are eliminated.
System features and functions ● ● ● ● ● ● ● Network-based audio matrices that can process up to 255 audio channels and simultaneously transmit up to 64 audio channels in studio quality. Network components such as Ethernet switches and media converters for a fully redundant audio network with up to 1350 participants that is compliant with EN 54-16. In addition to copper connections, fiber-optic connections can also be used in the network with adapters.
Component application Digital audio matrix board The Cerberus PACE Compact audio matrices process audio signals from the digital network, the internal digital memory (flash), the micro SD card, and the analog audio inputs. The audio matrices automatically digitize analog signals, so they can be processed further. Each audio signal is assigned to an audio channel. A Cerberus PACE Compact audio matrix can manage up to 255 audio channels. Cerberus PACE Compact audio matrices are standard network participants.
Call stations Cerberus PACE Compact offers a range of operating and call stations for various applications. The system operating unit PT1002-A1 displays the operating and fault status of the audio system. Live announcements with the integrated hand-held microphone or stored alarm and evacuation announcements can be played throughout the entire building or in single areas (zones). It provides color-coded buttons to trigger, reset, and silence alarms.
The PT2002-A1 is a network-based fire brigade call station and allows a redundant system structure. The fire brigade call station PT2003-A1 communicates via 'PACE-Bus' and 0 dB symmetrical analog audio transmission. They are designed for use by the fire brigade or trained security personnel. The alarm and system status can be monitored. ● The integrated hand-held microphone can be used to make live announcements.
Power supply and batteries The external AC 230 V power supply unit PP2004-A1 provides DC 24 V to all the system externally mounted call stations. The power supply unit ensures that the externally mounted components continue to operate without interruption in case of an 'AC 230 V' line voltage failure by providing a DC 24 V from the emergency batteries. The power supply unit also charges, monitors, and protects the emergency batteries.
