Energy Savings at the Pump(s)
The pump affinity laws can be used to gauge the impact of using a PICV in place of a globe valve on the distribution
system. As can be seen in the equations, any flow change that occurs in the system will have a squared effect on the
pressure drop in the system, and a cubed effect on the power requirements to deliver the desired flow.
This can be used to gauge the impact on the pump and its performance.

Pump Affinity Laws

Pressure independent control valves improve system
