Advanced fire protection
for wide-spread university
campus
The prestigious King Khalid University chose
Cerberus PRO to reliably protect the new campus.
For the new Abha campus of the King Khalid
University in Saudi Arabia, the customer
needed a most reliable fire protection system
to ensure that students, staff and visitors are
safe at all times on the wide-spread campus.
The project
The King Khalid University, established
in 1998, is located at Abha City in the
southern region of Saudi Arabia. With
approx. 70,000 students, it is one of
the largest learning centers in the
Middle East. A new campus is currently
under construction. Once completed,
it will cover 8.5 km
2
and include
11 faculties, a medical city with a
teaching hospital, student housings,
a mosque, administration buildings
and more. To keep students, staff and
visitors safe at all times throughout
the wide-spread campus, King Khalid
University needed a reliable fire pro-
tection solution from a single source.
The challenge
Protecting people, buildings and assets
at a university campus is crucial but
also not a simple task. “King Khalid
University was a quite challenging
project since it consists of various
applications,” says Ahmad Turk, Country
Manager Commercial and Government
Sector at Secutronic. These application
areas include lecture rooms, labora-
tories, a library, a car park, cafeterias
and many more. All these areas have
different requirements regarding fire
safety. Furthermore, the solution needs
to be integrated with other security
systems into a third-party
building
management system. Another
