Introduction

Siemens Industry's BT300 is designed specifically for the demands of today’s HVAC

systems. Increased focus on energy efficiency of variable flow systems has increased the

need for easy-to-use and highly reliable variable frequency drives that reduce the cost of

installation and maintenance while maximizing energy savings.

The BT300 comes standard with unique and industry-leading features:

• Motor Switch Ride Through – during maintenance the motor maintenance switch can

be opened and closed without stopping or tripping the drive

• Thin Film Capacitors – eliminate the need to condition or reform the capacitors before

applying power

• View/Monitor nine parameters at one time – user selectable, users determine the

parameters for their applications

• Smallest Type 12 footprint on the market – lower shipping cost and easy installation

The BT300 supports Siemens Industry's long-standing, industry-leading backward

compatibility tradition. The BT300 HVAC Drive is backward compatible to SED2

installations.

If your existing SED2 fails on the Electronic Bypass (VBE part numbers) the SED2 can be

refitted with the BT300 VFD. This brings you the latest technology at the lowest possible

cost. In addition, the SED2 to BT300 Migration Kit supports the conventional bypass

(VBA) designs manufactured after September, 2009.

The SED2 to BT300 Migration Kits provide you with all the components necessary to

mount your BT300 quickly and easily in various locations within your facility. Even if

space is limited within your facility, the SED2 to BT300 Kits are available with a remote

mounting option allowing you greater flexibility.

Just follow these guidelines and you will have your system up and running in record time.

Migration Guide Document Number 125-1005 January 12, 2015 Interlock Description SED2 to BT300 Variable Frequency Drives The Interlock feature (also called damper end switch logic) enables the BT300 to inhibit motor start until a safety condition (proofing sequence) is confirmed. Any call to start the motor from the BT300 or bypass does not directly start the motor, but instead initiates the following Interlock procedure: 1. The Interlock Start Logic Enable indicator is ON.

Auto Bypass now becomes auto bypass on a VFD fault only (bypass is initiated by the SED2 Fault and this digital output must always be programmed to VFD fault). • All set-up is the same as with Interlock (see the Interlock section in Application Feature Setup).

Essential Services Description The Essential Services feature allows full-power bypass mode control of the motor during an emergency scenario. Activation of Essential Services overrides any other selected operation. Essential Services ensures that the bypass contactor will not open when a safety input or overload opens.
