Modes of Operation
The View menu and related toolbar icons allow you to select of the following three EasyComm
operating modes:
Offline
Parameter changes affect the parameter set file only.
Online-RAM
Parameter changes immediately affect the drive and are saved in RAM.
After cycling power (off and then on), the changes are lost.
Recommended Method of Operation:
Online-EEPROM Parameter changes immediately affect the drive and are saved in
EEPROM. After cycling power (off and then on), the changes remain in effect.
The menu/icon selection only effects the active window. The display functions the same
in any of the operating modes. The inactive windows maintain their previously selected
operating mode (either offline or online).
Offline
In offline mode, changes to parameter values occur only in the parameter set file. Offline
operation is always possible as there is no communication link to the drive. Data transfer
is not possible. When the parameter set is defined, it can be downloaded into the drive at
a later time.
In offline mode, the device status field indicates a white “O” on a blue background (O)
and the adjacent text message displays OFFLINE.
In offline mode:
All parameter values are read from a parameter set file, not from the drive.
Parameter changes are written into a parameter set file.
You cannot upload a parameter set file from the drive.
You cannot download a parameter set file to the drive.
