Ideal environmental conditions are of high-
est significance for Johnson & Johnson.
Environmental parameters which may
negatively affect the quality of products
have to be monitored using audited sys-
tems. For this reason, Siemens installed
Compact Monitoring Technology (CMT)
which complies with the strictest life
science regulations.
CMT is a tested solution that combines
all required functionalities, such as tem-
perature, relative humidity, differential
pressure and particle counts, in one com-
pact unit. Other critical quality attributes
can also be integrated into CMT.
This solution monitors and records all
relevant measurement values and thus
provides observation and constant docu-
mentation of environmental conditions
in all Johnson & Johnson facilities –
always in compliance with GMP (Good
Manufacturing Practice) standards. CMT
is based on the Desigo™ building auto-
ma
tion and control system from Siemens.
All components needed for the validated
recording of data are located in a precon-
figured cabinet, including an industrial
PC on which the entire operating software
is installed, as well as an audit trail for
logging all modifications to the system.
Like a tachograph in a commercial vehicle,
CMT reliably records critical parameters,
prevents tampering and makes the data
available over the long term. The installed
monitoring system remains flexible and
scalable at the same time, meaning that
it can be expanded at any time to keep
pace with changing requirements at
Johnson & Johnson.
