RRE/RRE4 Remote Reader Electronics
Figure 1. APOGEE Security Technologies’ remote reader
electronics, RRE4 (left) and RRE (right).
Description
Utilization of two stage access control readers with
the ACU2 networked intelligent controller is
accomplished using the RRE series of remote card
reader interfaces.
Two basic versions of the RRE are available, the
standard RRE single card reader controller, and the
RRE4, which provides control for up to four card
readers.
Both versions have facilities to interface keypads,
door alarms and request to exit devices, and provide
5 volt, 12 volt and 24 volt outputs to power card
readers, Request to Exit (REX) devices and door
strikes.
Features
x
Intelligent remote modules provide flexible and
cost effective reader and keypad interfacing,
status monitoring and control capabilities
x
All remote reader electronics modules
communicate with ACUs via RS-485 multidrop
ports
x
Use of remote reader electronic modules on an
ACU does not diminish the capacity to utilize
remote input modules and remote relay modules
Remote Reader Electronics for Single Card
Readers (RRE)
x
Interfaces virtually any type of card reader
technology to the system, together with Wiegand
emulation keypads
x
Provides four UL grade AA supervised inputs and
one unsupervised input for tamper alarm
x
Two local form C relays are provided (SPDT-30
Vdc at 2 A) which can be used for any control
action specified by the system, including door
strike activation
Remote Reader Electronics for Four Card Readers
(RRE4)
x
Interfaces up to four card readers and keypads
using Wiegand emulation interfaces up to 500
feet from the RRE4
x
Provides four form C relay outputs (4 SPDT-30
Vdc at 2 A)
x
Provides eight UL grade AA supervised inputs
and one unsupervised input for tamper alarm
x
Provides 5 volt, 12 volt and 24 volt power
supplies for readers, REX devices and door
strikes
