The project
The Sofia Ring Mall opened its doors
in Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria, in
November 2014. It’s the largest mall
in the country with over 200 stores,
a 2,200 m
2
food court area, 10 movie
theaters, an indoor karting track, a
14,000 m
2
play area and an under-
ground garage offering parking space
for more than 3,500 cars. It’s also the
only mall in Sofia that is situated close
to the mountains, with wide open
places and green areas. To ensure the
safety, security and comfort of visitors
and staff in all areas and at all times,
the Sofia Ring Mall needed a smart,
integrated solution from one source.
The challenge
Every day, the Sofia Ring Mall provides
a great shopping experience to thou-
sands of people. This includes ensuring
the highest possible level of fire safety,
security and comfort – with all systems
running energy efficiently. One of the
challenges is that a large complex like
the Sofia Ring Mall houses different
application areas, each with its own
environmental condition and technical
challenges. Furthermore, all the differ-
ent fire safety, security and building
management systems have to work
seamlessly together – to increase life
safety in the case of an event. That’s
why the customer required everything
should come from one source. For this
project, the Siemens Solution Partners
Protech Jsc. and New System Ltd.
joined forces to offer an integrated fire
safety and building management solu-
tion from Siemens.
